I'm due to have a scheduled c section in June. I've started to pack our bags and I was wondering what we might need for the hospital stay for both of us? I'm asking so as not to forget anything.

I'm the sister Joy was talking about :-) I had two c-sections and recommend a few things: lip balm, socks, flip flops/slippers, soft cotton underwear (not tight) comfy pj's (a few pairs) with a robe so that you can cover up with visitors or if cold (get a tank top and capris or shorts for the pj's)...something very soft though and not tight around your stomach, bathroom stuff for you..shamp/conditioner..soap, facial soap, make-up if you where it..I wore lip gloss and mascara..it just made me feel good, pads (the ones at the hospital are super thick so if you want your own bring a big pack) lotion, nursing pads (i loved lily padz) if you have a special pillow or want your own, boppy if you want..I found a pillow from the bed was so much easier to prop them up on and twist around for easy positioning to nurse, towel..the ones in the hospital are soo small barely wrap around, camera, video camera (for after section, if you have one) If you are scheduled for a morning section do not eat after midnight the night before, not even drinks..they will tell you all that stuff at ur OBGYN closer to the day.
For the baby they give you everything for them while you are there. All you need is bottles if you are going to bottle feed, an outfit for him/her to go home in, maybe a light blanket, and car seat :-)) If you have a "swaddle me" you might want to bring that with you. Keeps them nice and cozy..and is easy to do!
I hope this helps..good luck with everything!!
p.s. make sure they get you up and walking around after your section..when the numbing wears off. Enjoy this time and congratulations!!

Don't forget some kind of lip balm...my lips were so dry from pushing but sister has had 2 c-sections and said that after both her lips were extremely dry.

hi

i'm having a planned c-sect in june also :O) but when i was in hospital for my 2nd one i was in for 3 days, so if its the same at other hospitals, time everything u need by the days you gonna be in there, which i think would be everything that ajay said :O)

although my first c-sect ended up emergancy and i was in for 10days cos i lost alot of blood, so my husband was bringing in things extra as we needed them x

Thank's Ajay, this is my 3rd baby. It's been so long since i've had one i've forgotten what I might need. My other 2 are 13 and will be 15 around the time the baby girl gets here.

Hey, this is what im taking in and what i took in last time -- what helped me was to write it all down and have a checklist to tick off.

Baby:: packet of nappies, packet of wipes [or cotton wool], nappy sacks, a nice [clean] soft towel [cuz hospital towels are all rough and horrid i find] two pairs of EVERYTHING cuz knowing babies they will pee/poo/puke everywhere, so thats Sleepsuits x2, vests x2, socks x2, hat x2, scratch mits x2. [make sure they have all been washed beforehand, just cuz theyre new dont mean theyre clean!] an outfit for going home in, bottles if bottle feeding [cleaned and sterlilized] dummies if your using them.

DONT forget a carseat for going home in!

You:: nightie [with front opening if breastfeeding] bra, lightweight dressing gown [it gets kinda chilly] slippers, change of clothes [dont forget fresh underwear and socks! x2] breastpads [even if not breastfeeding cuz youll probably leak] toiletries [showergel, hair suff, etc] MAKEUP!!! compact mirror! facewipes, a whole pack of maternity pads [cuz youll bleed loads] ear plugs!

seeing as your having a c-section you prob wont need things like a mini fan, face spritz, cd player, etc. i dunno if you are allowed to eat or drink before cuz your having an operation, but i found having a cool drink nearby definatly helped cuz i got really dehydrated. also cadburys creme eggs, which i ate while in labour hah!

anyways, hope this helps, thinking about it ive prob forgotten to write something in. hope everything goes well.

is this your first baby?
