Just curious to see what everyone registered for or got as a gift and thought they would use but is maybe still in the package! Mine would be the rubber duck that tests the water temp for baths!!

not so much for the baby but my manual breast pump was a real waste... I get waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more milk waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay faster just using my hands... furthermore, u'd think the pump wud b easier to use right? heck no! my hands ache every time so I gave up within the first couple o days

the electric pump is great though... with that I can feed my son on one breast while pumping the other and we can both be comfy and hassle-free while everything is going on

I would have to say mine is the bottle sanitizer, I mean really it only holds 4 bottles and 4 nipples at a time, my son goes through so many bottles that it's too crazy to even bother with it. And it melted one of my expensive playtex bottles like a shrinky dink!!! I just use a bowl of bleach water and sanitize like that.

It's really not good to use bleach to wash your baby's bottles. Get an organic dish detergent at the grocery store- only cost about $3. Washing something that baby is going to put in his mouth in bleach means that he ends up ingesting some of it and bleach is highly toxic (can damage his internal organs). You are better off not disinfecting at all than using harsh chemicals!

Bottle warmer, pacifiers (my daughter only used them for the first 3 months and only the Soothies kind), sling, crib comforter, travel sleeper. I do, however, use the temperature duck that I got, though I think it's a little overly sensitive. LOVE my bouncer, microwave sterilizer, boppy, and I use the wipe warmer as just a holder.

Pacifiers. Unfortunately I thought every baby needed them but my son doesn't like them. Being a first time mom I was overzealous and washed every single one we were given/bought and now I have 15 or so pacifiers we don't use. I also have a wipe warmer that I've never even plugged in.

While I have never used the bed set comforter for the same reasons mentioned here, I do use the crib bumpers. My son got his leg caught and pinched early one morning when he was about 2 months old and screamed. It scared me so much!!! Coincidentally he had a dr appt that morning. I discussed using the bumper with his dr and he suggested that we use it. My advice on things like this is to talk to your child's dr and see what he/she thinks. Mine has been very helpful.

LOL. I know what you mean. This is my second child though. My first born loved the paci so I thought this one would too, boy was I wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I have all these paci's and still try to get him to take it sometimes. I put it in his little hand and he puts it in and out of his mouth, but thats as far as it goes....

Same here. Number one loved them, so I bought four to make sure I always have a clean one. I spend 5 minutes trying to get him to take it and it stays in for 20 seconds and then gets spat out. What a waste. I did not bother with a changing table this time as we never used it with the first one either.

I am so with you on that. Every other father I know is helpful and is always spending time with their kids. I have to ask mine every time I need help with our two.

The bumbo seat is useless. My son doesn't like to sit in there at all. I have the tray and I put toys on it, but he drops them on the floor and then he is too far away to pick them up. Plus his little chubby legs get stuck when I try to take him out. What a pain and he isn't even that chubby!

Definately the bottle warmer. I use dropins and there is no way to warm them in there and even regular bottles, it is no faster than soaking the bottle in warm water

The Tommy Tippee baby monitor with the mat that's meant to detect whether they're breathing or not. What a waste of money. The baby monitor goes out of range and starts beeping even when only a few metres away. We've never used the mat, we still swaddle him, so there's not much movement to detect. It's oviously taking advantage of new parent's insecurities and fears.

The most useless/under used item is the bumbo seat. My daughter loves to sit up but hates the bumbo. I plan to use the crib bedding when she gets older so I don't consider that a waste yet. The most useful things for me was the soothing center, microwave steamer, bobby pillow, and the rear view mirror - hers has dangling animals on it and she talks to them while I drive.

I received one of those mirrors that lets you see your baby in the rearview mirror while they are rear facing and its still in the package because i read an article that said they can be a danger if you are in a accident. We got a turtle water temp checker and its only use is as a tub toy.

The Boppy, Bumbo, and vibrating chair. Oh, and the bottle warmer, and the Boppy brand tummy time mat, and the tiny recieving blankets that didnt even fit her when she was a newborn (6lbs 8oz).

I bought the breathable bumper it works! That works well, keeps the parts in that need to stay in and the baby can reath even right up against it! I have to say I agree with everyone about the bottle warmer. For this baby I didn't bother to get one, actually never warmed a bottle so my little girl is very adaptable. I don't have to worry about her being fussy if the temperature isn't just right.

I love my breathable bumber! Best thing ever! My baby would get her limbs stuck every night! And the duck I agree is useless at detecting too hot water...but mostly for us it was the bassinet, my baby hated it and we used it for about 2 weeks on and off until we gave up and went to the pack n play! Our most used item was def. the pack n play and boppy!

If you are talking about the bumbo get the tray that goes with it it works wonders my boy would always lean forward or sideways and i got the tray now he sits upright and i can put some of his toys on it and he has a blast

Bumper pads I read that they don't recommend the use of them because once the baby starts to wiggle around that they can suffacate themselves by scooting into the corner and not be able to turn in their sleep because they can't breathe

The massage pad for colic -- tried to use it a couple of times, and my daughter SCREAMED more whether I tried to lay her on it tummy-down on my lap or against my chest. Gave it to my sister, who just had a baby, in case she needs it and has better luck with it...

The wipe warmer was the biggest waste, but I did not buy it so its okay. It was actually passed along because a friend had just had a baby and got two. It sounded great because it can be hooked up in the car too but NO I dont use it. It now sits in my living room not plugged in and my sister uses it to clean her boys faces/hands when they come over to play. I love my bobby, my bumbo and my bottle warmer though. But I do see that the bottle warmer is more of a hassle than anything.

for my lil man i got the wipes warmer, bottle warmer, and a changing table all at my baby shower so i didnt technically buy them but i have not used any of them lol its so much easier just to change his diapers on a blanket on the floor. Also i never bought the rubber ducky thing but at the hospital they gave me this little card and it is small enough to just leave in his bath

wipes! we bought 2 cases of them before our baby was born - parents choice and pampers sensitive - and both kinds gave her diaper rash. we only use them (sparingly) when we go out. at home, we just use water or water and mild soap and corn starch instead of baby powder and have been diaper rash free ever since. the baby sling was a waste too - she hated being trapped in there but loves the baby buddha stretchy carrier and baby bjorn.

The bath temp duck for sure. What baby wants to sit in frigid water?? At least she'll have a cute ducky to play with in the tub when she's bigger. I have a feeling the crib bumper is going to make me nervous-- she's in a cradle right now, but she can wiggle enough to get up against the bumper in there because it shifts with her weight, so we're going to put her in the crib this week. I'll have to see how she wiggles in there with more space before I decide how I feel about it.

I'd have to say my bottle warmer. I tried it a few times w/ my older baby, but it either made the bottle scalding hot or didn't warm it at all. He quickly outgrew the Boppy too, although they are nice when the baby is first born.

Probably this baby sling that cost 30 bucks! I thought it'd be so convenient to be able to carry my son around in but no way, he wasn't having it! I don't even know how to get him in and out of it. Maybe if he were a smaller baby. But even then, he hates being confined.
