What kind of "first walking shoes" are you using?

My lil guy is just starting to walk around, and so I figure it is time to get some shoes for him. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I've always gone to target too. they outgrow them so fast. In fact we bought our little girl boys tennis shoes for outdoor play and now our son wears them.

Get whatever is comfortable but realize that they learn to walk best in bare feet and sometimes shoes slow them down and make them trip - but you gotta have them when they are walking. I like Target for shoes - they are cute and not too expensive - they grow so fast.

Ugh... on that note- don't spend too much money on shoes!!! They don't wear them long enough. I went to put some Keds t-strap mary janes on my daughter today (fit fine last week) and I couldn't get her foot in there!!! LUCKILY I only paid $3 for them at a consignment sale... but now I have to buy new shoes. And she needs like 4 pairs right now! Church shoes, sandals, tennis... and of course some cutesy sandals to match all of her summer clothes! lol! I love havin a girl! =)

My daughter won't keep shoe's on since she's a summer baby, but when she wants to walk around outside I use squeaky shoes. I always swore I would never put them on my child b/c they're sooo annoying, but I went and got some. It's actually helping her grasp the concept of the heel to toe walk and not the curled toe "walkin on the tippy toes" walk! I like stride right's shoes as well, I just wish they were cheaper! =) Good Luck!

It is best not to use shoes inside. A shoe of any sorts can hinder their ability to learn to walk correctly. And def nothing with ankle support. As it will inhibit him to learn correct balance and could delay certain muscle toning. I leave my daughter barefoot inside. But outside the best shoe's to use are Stride Right pre walkers or walker. My dr suggested them for ONLY outdoor walking. If you cannot buy these where you are located, find a shoe that is VERY flexible so he will learn to walk correctly, he should be able to roll his ankle in the shoe while standing. No thick soles, best to have like a "crib" style shoe. Hope this helps a little.
