Mine goes to bed between 6:30-7:00 pm. He then sleeps until 6:30 am. I read a book called 'the baby sleep book' they stated that babies internal clocks usually have them ready to go to bed between 5:30-7:30. It is just finding what is right for your baby. If she wants to go to bed at that time I think she go to bed at that time. Then it leaves you with the ability to get stuff done and even spend time with baby's dad.

Also, going to bed early doesn't mean she'll sleep less, she'll probably sleep until the same time, if she has a regular schedule. Just as keeping her awake won't necessarily mean she will sleep later in the morning.

my son is 8.5mths old & i aim for 7/7.30 each night, although that is generally up to him. if he hasn't had a late arvo sleep he goes off quite easy. unfortunately he is not sleeping thru yet.

So I have just read all of these post and my daughter foes to bed Really early. She goes to bed at 5.30 pm and sleeps through until 5 am where she has a bottle then sleeps until 6. We have been in this routine since about 4 months old. It works really well for us. Being that I am a single mum, with NO support she has been with me 24/7 since birth, I enjoy having a couple of hours to myself after she goes to bed. I like early mornings as it means that we can enjoy a morning walk. She also has 2 two hour sleeps per day.

Hi Hayli,

My baby is almost 8 months old and he goes to bed a little after 8:30 and sleeps until 7 - 8am. He gets two naps during the day - each at about an hour and a half. He sleeps between 14 - 15 hours total per 24 hour period. Alot of the moms in our playgroup put their kids to bed between 7 & 7:30. Picking a bed time really depends on when you want them to get up. I'm not an early riser - that's why I opt for the later bedtime so he doesn't wake up at the crack of dawn :)

Feed them a thick bottle of Oatmeal. Trust me it works. The tummy is all full and they will have a restful sleep.

Ive tried lots of things to get him to go to bed earlier and to sleep his nights but nothing has worked.... if you have any suggestions please do tell. My first born was sleeping her nights when she was two months and going to bed at 8pm at my sons age

My 8 month old is ready for bed by 7pm. He has dinner around 6 then straight to bath then bed. My 20 month old also goes to bed around 7pm. They both don't wake up until around 8-8:30am. Both my kids take 2 naps a day. That is completely normal!

My lil boy is in bed almost every night at 7pm, its not often that he isn't and its usually because his daddy has come home late from work and he wants his playtime with his dad so he'll go down at about 8pm. It's great for us as we get time together like we did before he was born, it's our time to have dinner together, talk about aur day and just relax.

My son, Aiden goes to bed at 7:30pm and sleeps till 6:30 or so in the morning. He gets way too cranky if we leave him up any longer. I read a really good book called "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child" by Marc Weissbluth, and it was really good information about how to get your child sleep through the night and what time they should be going to bed at. I highly recommend it. Hope that helps.

No..not at all. Jack (9 months on the 12th) goes to sleep at 6:30-7:00pm and wakes at 6:00-6:30am every day. My 5 year old also goes to bed at 7:00pm. I also read that the baby needs to get 14 hours a day (naps + bedtime). I really think it is important to have"alone" time at night with your husband.

I always said that i dont want a 5am baby and some people say thats what babies do get used to it, i dont agree. Tamzyn goes to bed at 7.30 and wakes at 6.30 so i know that i can put her down earlier if i wanted to but she isnt grumpy and my husband and i both work so to spend that little extra time with her is so special for us. She naps in the morning and in the afternoon totalling about 3 hours. You have to do what is right for you and baby and what suits your family.

Hi, I'm Julia a mother of twin 8 month old boys, 7:30 isnt to early but you have to remember babys sleep on average 14 hours a day, so what ever you let her nap is taken out of the average. My boys take a nap at 12 noon until 1 and then again at 4 until 5, so we put them down for the night around 8:00 or 8:30 and they sleep until 5 wake up for a butt change and a bottle then back down until 9 when we eat breakfast so they sleep all together just at about 14 hours. The earlier you put them to bed the earlier they will rise, and if your a stay at home mom like me, i don't like to rise with the roosters if i don't have to : ).....hope it helps

7-7:30, babies need as much sleep as they can get, it makes a huge difference in their temperment.

Our 8 month old likes her sleep. She wakes 6:30-7:30 AM. Two hours later, down for a nap about 1 hour to 1.5 hours. Then up for 2-3 more hours and down for another nap. Sometimes she gets a third nap before bedtime, sometimes it's just 10 minutes of quiet time in her crib around 4:30 ish 5 PM and she won't sleep. But she needs that break or else it's demon child until bedtime between 7-7:30 PM.

Consider yourself lucky! My almost 9 month old only takes 2 15 minute cat naps during the day and doesnt go to sleep until at least 11pm...and THEN still wakes 3 times a night. But it's hard to nap when 4 y/o big brother is always waking her up. Amazingly she isnt too crabby about not sleeping!

My son just turned 8 months and has been on a schedule since he was 2 months old. He goes to sleep at 8pm just about every night and wakes up around 6:30am every morning so he gets about 10 1/2 hours of sleep at night. He still takes 2 naps during the day a morning ( about 2-2 1/2 hours) and the same for an afternoon nap. So he is getting about 14-15 hours of sleep per day. Since he has learned to scoot himself around and pull himself up on furniture he seems to get tired after about 3 hours after a nap. Sleep helps them grow and so if he is tired, I let him sleep. I like that he goes to bed at 8pm because then it gives me and daddy alone time to be together!

You just have to let him fuss. I use a wet cloth or a toy to keep Anna awake she whines alot but at least she knows when bed time is. Try getting him up and putting him down for nap at he same time everyday for a few days and then add bed time into the routine. Good luck

My son is in bed by 9:00pm sometimes, like last night, he will be up until 10:30 but that is only if I let his afternoon nap go too long. He sleeps for an hour from 1:30 - 2:30pm and then I start getting him ready for bed at 8, play, cereal, bath, massage, then snuggle and breast. He wakes up at 7:30am. I think anytime for your baby to go to bed is okay as long as you are ready to get up when they wake up.

No way thats fine. Our wee one is 8 1/2 mths & she is down by 7.30pm wakes again at about 9.30pm for a quick feed then straight back to sleep till about 6-7am. She also has 2-3 sleeps during the day. morning sleep, afternoon sleep then sometimes a little nap about 4pm before dinner at 5pm. Gives you time either to yourself in the evening or with your partner too.

My Anna is almost nine months and come 8:30 she starts fussing. If you don't let her go to bed she is just unbearable. She usually gets up around 1am for a bottle but goes right back to sleep. I think 7:30 is fine if it works with your schedule. Take care
