My almost 8 month old daughter goes to sleep at about 10pm and only sleeps about 8 hours no matter what I do! She went down at about 8:30 up until about 6 1/2 months, though.

I think that the time a baby goes to bed should depend on the parents' schedule. My daughter has to get up by 7am 3 days a week for me to go to school, so she usually goes to bed around 9:30pm. But she's never been much of a sleeper. So if she were to go to bed any earlier, she would be waking up when I am getting ready, and I like to get completely ready to leave & then wake her up.

Kaylee was going to bed at 10:30. She was falling asleep at 8:00 and then would wake up at 10:30 for another bottle. I decided since she was falling asleep at 8:00, I would try changing her schedule. Now she stays up until 8:30 and has her last bottle and is asleep by 9:00. Any later than that and she is miserable. Then she sleeps until 6:30 or 7.

My baby WILL NOT go to bed before 9 pm. He used to go to bed at 11 or 12 and he has very slowly moved this time earlier. He used to sleep through the night from about 2 months to 6 months but going away at Christmas and teething completely messed him up. We got him back so he only wakes up once now usually around 4 am and then goes back down till 7 or so. It's hard cause I know he can sleep through the night he just forgot how. And we will not cry it out with him.

My 8 month old goes to bed at around 830pm every night and wakes at around 6am. I am lucky though no matter what time i put him down he neally always sleeps at least 9 1/2 to 10 hrs then goes back down pretty much straight after for a second sleep of around 2 - 3hrs. *30 at night suits me great just in case we go out or something. I think you should just do whatever suits you and your bub, :)

Evan is in bed by 8 and sometimes a bit earlier. It used to be much later until we let him cry it out. It was the best thing we could have done! He goes to sleep on his own now and rarely cries for long if at all. He usually wakes once or twice, but if we let him cry for a few minutes (which always seems longer than it is), he falls back to sleep on his own. He gets up around 6 am but usually only stays up for an hour when I put him back down before I go to work. He's an incredibly happy baby and I have a few hours to myself at night which makes for a very happy mommy!

My baby is 8 mnths and she is asleep no later than 9 pm like clock work. I started her on a schedule at 3 mnths. i don't think there is such a thing as early or late when it comes to going to sleep.

Wow! That's great! My daughter goes to bed at 10:00, which is late, but it works for me and my husband's schedule. She sleeps until about 8:30.

My daughter has been sleeping from 7pm to 7am since she was 4.5 months old. We start her "going down routine" at 6:30, which I believe makes a huge difference in getting her to sleep without a fuss. She is sick with a cold and really congested right now though, so she hasn't been sleeping well the last few days.

Most of the baby sleep books I read recommend they go to bed no later than 7:30, and my son is in bed by 7 usually. He set that time himself and is always tired by 6 or 6:30. He naturally moved his bed time to 7 when we got his naps in order, around 4 months old. One book I read that really made an impression on me recommends that children don't go to bed any later than 8:30 until they're around 11 years old. Sleep is so important and I think it's vital that we teach our kids this lesson when they're young.

Caylee (8 months on Feb. 20th) is currently going to bed between 7:30 & 8:30pm. She was sleeping through the night at 7 months, but now she is currently cutting all four of her top four teeth at the same time & gets up b/w 1 & 2 am. Other than that she goes to bed b/w 7:30 & 8:30pm & gets up once at night & then sleeps until 6:30 & 7:30 am...

Both my children are in bed between 7 and 8. My oldest is 3 and we take her upstairs at 7:30 and my 8 month old is in bed by 7:15. If they are tired and will sleep through the night give 'er. My sister-in-law's children are in bed by 6:30! Enjoy the early bedtime for some needed alone time.

My little one turns 8 months on the 21st and goes to bed between 8 and 8:30 every night, gets up around 6:30 in the morning. She has been sleeping through the night since she was about 3 months old with only a few nights when she was sick that she didn't. She takes two naps during the day for about 1-2 hours each. Some babies just like to sleep more than others, so if she's sleeping through the night I would consider yourself blessed!

hi hayli - i don't think that's too early. our daughter's been going to bed at 7 for at least 4-5 months and sleeps until about 7 in the morning. i think most of the books i've read reference a time between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. as ideal for a little one. sounds like addi's giving you the clues, too.

I have to get my daughter up around 6:20am during the week to get ready for the babysitter, so I try to have her fed and ready for bed no later than 7:30pm. She's a sleeper, and I feel bad when I don't at least give her the opportunity for at least 9-10 hours. And she is definitely tired and whiney by then. :) Some nights we don't get her to bed until 9pm or so, then I really feel bad about waking her up early. Granted, this early bedtime means she wakes up that early on weekends too, but we're used to her schedule.

Mine 7 month old is in bed sleeping before 7pm and gets up by 7am. He will still get up during the night to nurse once or twice but will go right back down again. My 4 year old goes in at around 7pm too and sleeps til 6-7am. Putting him to bed later doesn't make a difference, he still gets up early. I love it! I get to have my own time every night and it has been a great routine for my older one now that he is in school.

my little boy ( 33 weeks old now) goes to be bed at 730pm and wakes up at 7am. We tried to make him go to sleep at 9pm assuming he would wake up at 9am but it disturbed his sleep pattern and he would wake up several times in the night and would still wake up around 6am-7am. So we figured we are better off letting him sleep early so he could get his 12 hours of rest.

As long as she is sleeping through the night it great! Some kids need more sleep then others. My first son went to bed at that time but my second goes to bed at 9pm-10pm.
