What to do to keep your LO warm at night

[deleted account] ( 9 moms have responded )

I'm just wondering how everyone else keeps their little ones warm at night? The cold weather has arrived and at night I am dressing him in footie pajamas, socks, and a short sleeved onsie underneath.....but he still wakes with his hands FREEZING!!! Any ideas?

ds co-sleeps with me, and he stays nice and toasty. we only have the blanket up to his waist, but somehow his hands are still nice and warm. when he does sleep in the pnp, his hands and feet are cold when he wakes up, but it doesn't seem to bother him.

My son is almost 6 years old. He's hated the sleep sacks ever since he was a newborn. I put him in fleece PJ's with a light blanket. If you're concerned about the blanket you can buy a Breathable Blanket at Babies R Us or on-line. I have a the breathable bumper in his crib. It's made of a mesh-like material so if he gets it over his head he can still breathe.

i think what ur doing is good. so maybe put a small heater close 2 the bed. plus his hands migh just stay cool . my daughter is 11 and her feet and hands r always cool even when she's not

Yes I do the same. Sleep suite that cover his feet and are longsleeves and put two blankets on him, and that keeps him warm. Also keep the temperature not to cold around the house, but make it comftable for you. But not so cold that at night you have to sleep with socks, and pants and two blankets over yourself. I keep my house 72-73 and that seems comftable for the baby. Just try to keep it the same temperature you used to when it was summer. Cause that is the temperature he is used to already.

I dress mine in a sleepsuit and his sleeping bag his room is kept at 20 degrees and occasionally his hands are cool but this is fine he doesnt wake in the night well only sometimes for his dummy if you get a sleeping bag tho make sure its a winter one 2.5 tog these keep them warm as it covers them all sides unlike a blanket which is just over the top of them and which they can kick off

i use a sleep sack and 2 blankets. i know they say not to have loose blankets in the crib but have been for a while. the no blanket recommendation is really only for newborns. after 6 months they say it's even ok to have a small stuffed animal in the crib if baby wants. of course don't do it if you don't feel comfortable! : ) if you do use a blanket, make sure your baby is sleeping at the foot of the crib and the blanket is tucked in near his feet. that way he can't scoot down and have the blanket cover his face.

I use sleep sacks. They are great. There are some that have the fold over part for the hands like the newborn stuff.
