Our son has been in his room since he was about 2 weeks. He loves it and sleeps through the night. Now is a great time to start because the longer you wait the harder it will be for you and your baby.

It's totally up to you and your beliefs. There are studies that show a slight reduction in SIDS for babies who sleep near their mothers. Other studies show that babies sleep a little better when they're put in their own rooms. Most bassinets only hold 15lbs, so unless you have a crib in your room or are cosleeping it might be time to make the switch. Otherwise, if you're both happy with the arrangements, I say why switch?

3 months. I admit we're a little "harder" on our kids than other ppl and they all slept thru the night from day one but we never let them sleep in our bed and by 3 months they're in their own room. Self-soothing, tho we never really had to think about it, was something we wanted them to learn before they knew why. The same theory goes w/ pacifiers, bottles and sippies. We took them away before an attachment formed. 3 kids and no issues.

My daughter is 5 months on the 16th of this month. I just start her own room thing about one to two months ago and she seems to like it alot... she has all the quietness she could want. She did kinda get fussy the first couple of nights but then she loved it...

Sadie sleeps better in our bed now that's she's rolling over. In her crib she rolls over and wakes up screaming but in our bed she just rolls into my arm or my husbands and she can't turn all the way over and settles back down. We still put her to bed in her crib (in our room) but when she wakes herself up I bring her to bed to nurse and she stays with us. I'm dreading moving her to her own room...I'm not ready! She probably is. She's easy to put back to sleep when she wakes herself up by rolling over. As soon as I pick her up, she conks out on my shoulder. We'll probably try moving her crib into her room this month.

My youngest went into her own room at about 3 months. My oldest was 6 months.

My baby is 5 momths old and has been sleeping in her room since about two weeks old. I too think it actually helped her to sleep better being in her own room. I think now would be a good time for the transition.

Baby's can sense your presence so if you are together he may stay awake more. My little 4month old has slept in his own room/crib since he's been here. It was hard (and still is) b/c he was sooo colicky so I never slept having to get up every few minutes...but for you if baby is already sleeping through the night then it's perfect! No reason to wait! Plus, it will only be harder when he gets older to seperate since he will be used to you. He will associate you with bedtime instead of "my room=bedtime."

My baby is 4 months and one week. I just put her in her own room last week, and it's been great. Seems like she's been sleeping better through the night. She goes to bed at 7:30 and sleeps through till about 6:30. I guess it's because she doesn't sense me in the same room or hears any noise. We also have the video baby monitor so that works great. If I hear her, I just look and sure enough she's putting herself back to sleep.
