Food Issues

My daughter is 9 months. She has been eating solids since 7 months. At 8 months she chose not to breastfeed anymore and has been on solids and formula since then. So far she has had Rice Cereal, Peas, Green Beans, Carrots (yellow & orange), broccoli, yellow squash, and acorn squash. She has also had cherrios, bananas, and plain yogurt. She has had no problems with any of these foods.

I have been trying to introduce fruit. I have tried peaches and pears and with both she immediately got a diaper rash so bad it look like she has burns. It has taken less than 4 hours for this to happen each time. My daughter has always hated wet and dirty diapers and protest having it on as soon as it gets solid, so we change it quite often. The Dr said the diaper rash is being cause by yeast and he gave us an ointment to treat her.

My daughter really wants to feed herself now, but I am concerned we haven’t gotten more fruit in her. With both the peaches and the pears, I have stopped giving it to her and she starts to clear up. I have also tried mixing the pears with yogurt to see if it helps it did not. I have been making my own baby food so I tried store bought and had the same issue.

It may be that the yeast is getting triggered by the fruit.

Has anyone else had this happen? Do you have any ideas?

I have never heard of that, but it makes me wonder if it's an allergy? Have you tried any different fruit? Have you tried slicing up an apple and seeing what happens? What I've been doing, is just giving her TINY pieces of whatever I'm eating. I'd say just keep trying different fruits. Obviously, don't try anymore pears or peaches, but maybe try mango, or raspberry, or applesauce. If those do it too, I'd go to the doctor, because that just can't be a coincidence!
