my baby is 4 months old now, since he was born he was fully breastfed until 3 months, now he take 2 or 3 bottles of formula per day, which is good, the thing is I want to stop completely breastfeed him I dont know what to do, cause when i dont give him the breast, they swell and hurt, what should I do?

best way is to allow milk to remain in the breast, and signals your body to stop producing it. so as someone said pump only enough to ease the discomfort, you can also try putting cabbage leaves in your bra, ive heard many swear by it and have read about it all over the place.

Slowly definitely. Cold turkey may cause Mastitis. If you can pump only just a little to relieve the pressure. You will get use to the reduced demand & each day you would only need to pump less & less often. Also after you have expressed put cold packs onto your breasts to reduce production. Cold packs reduce - hot packs increase..... Also maybe try some foods that naturally reduce milk production, I don't know what they are as I've never had any issues with anything I eat.

It does hurt to stop breastfeeding. I stopped when my first was 14 months and he was nursing around 4 times a day but only little nibbles. So I just stopped cold turkey. I put on super tight sports bras with a breast pad inside and just let it dry up on its own. It took about 4 days for my breasts to not be large and hard as rocks. Take some tylenol or ibuprofen for the pain

im going through the same thing. i have only been pumping since my baby was sick when she was born so she didnt do well on the breast so i pumped for her now im back to work and want to stop. im having a hard time trying to figure out how to make my milk go down i went down to three pumps a day and am trying to go down to two and it hurts like heck. should i just do the two times a day for a few days and then try to go down to once a day?

i would do it slowly. going cold turkey is gonna hurt like hell. Do u have a pump? you can always just pump like once or twice a day and slowly do it less time and less often. I went thru that with my first 2. I was debating on whether to stop breastfeeding my 4month old too. what made you decide to stop?
