My son is 7 moths old, still not taking to solids well. He can't have weat bix he automatically vomited from it, same as teething rusks asked the doctor if he could be allergic to wheat but they said if he was he would get a rash. He wont eat anything his eaten baby food twice once was the other day and it was pumpkin, and the other time it was pear and white grape. I have tried all the other brands every single baby food jar/sachet plus made my own i dont know what to do the doctors just say dont worry he will when his ready. But i have been trying every couple of days from 4 months then trying everyday from just before 6 months. He just sticks his tongue out and pulls weird faces and wont have anymore. I started trying early because he was only having 4 bottles a day and they say it isnt enough and he still takes the same his putting weight on well but id like him to start eating. Ideas?

Perhaps your son simply isn't ready to eat. My son didn't show interest in eating solids till he was about 7 months old and never liked purees. He wanted to eat solids himself right from the start and would clamp his mouth shut if I tried feeding him. So instead of trying force him to eat before he was ready, I simply let things be and he eventually started trying to take things off my plate and would wine if I didn't share food with him. Since then, he'll sometimes eat what is in front of him, sometimes not and that's ok. If the weight gain is consistent and he's having regular poos'pees there is no need to worry. If the issue is forced, he might develop an aversion to eating or develop negative eating habits; as in eating because it is expected of him rather than listening to his body's cues. I know it is frustrating and you want to move on to the next step in feeding your baby solids but try and be patient and take your cues from him. Eventually he will take to only eating foods and you'll miss the nursing/bottle feeding stage.

I have 8 month-old twins and they don't eat any type of baby food jar/sachet (except some fruits). They wouldn't eat any natural apples, or bananas or even cereal in a spoon. They have been eating very well now, but what I did to get them started was the following: I started mixing rice cereal in their bottle with a handheld blender 2 times per day. Then I started slowly introducing some fruit in their cereal + formula bottles. After a while, I started feeding them with a spoon the same mix of cereal and fruit blended in less formula. I also started adding some European Cerelac in the mix. Cerelac (by Nestle) is a very thin cereal with some milk already added to it. Cerelac (there are different types to chose from) is sweeter than the cereals we find in the US and it tastes much better. At the same time, I started to give them some soup I make myself and run through the blender. The soup is made with chicken (or beef), potatoes, carrots, rice (or pasta), some pieces of onions, and very little (or no) salt. I run everything through the blender (very fine) and freeze in separate portions. At the beginning they would eat just the soup and after a while I started mixing some baby food from any brand to it. Every day I would defrost some of my soup and add some peas, or squash, sweet potatoes, and other vegetables. What I did worked very well for my babies and I hope it will give you some ideas.

I try to make meal times enjoyable I'll make mmm sounds and pretend i'm eating it. If they think they're missing out on something they normally want it. Maybe try to eat at the same time. But if it's making him vomit or nothing is working the doctor should be taking more notice of what you're saying if you don't get anywhere get a second opinion. But if he's putting on a good amount of weight then all you can do is keep trying especially if he shows interest when you're eating. I'd beware of savoury foods that have apple and sweet things in them because it makes the food sweet and therefor they expect that. I try to make sure savoury is savoury and sweet is sweet.

chantelle, try some other cereals...they have barely and some others. also have you tried adult food? he can have just about everything you eat. when preparing food, keep a very small portion out so that it doesn't get seasoned. put it in a food processor. chop it up really small but don't puree it. it may be the texture he doesn't like about the baby purees and the cereal.

yeah i let sophia taste almost anything except seafood. She has tasted chocolate and eggs, only in moderation (mainly holidays). but if you have a history of allergies in your family...i would stick with the 1 year rule.

Yeah what Kayla said is definitely true, baby food does taste different. The first solid food we let my son try was real/fresh banana, he'd just suck on the end of it, and now he won't even touch the jarred stuff.

i cant use oatmeal soap or cleansers but i love eating it. try giving him real adult oatmeal with butter and a little sugar. My baby loved it. Baby food tastes way different then adult. My kid will refuse baby food if she sees someone eating adult food. She knows it has more flavor lol

if he can grab and put stuff in his mouth cust up bannanas and other stuff, not seeded, and give it to him and see if that works. just make sure its all cut to the size of peas. some babys just dont want to eat. Mine is almost 8 months and she has been eating at least baby oat meal since she was around 2 1/2months. all kids are different if the docs arent worried u shouldnt be either. They are usually the first ones to over react on stupid stuff. good luck

just remember food before 1 is just for fun. So dont fret, just keep offering, and try some finger foods. Some babies just dont do baby purees and some babies arent interested in solids till much later.

Baby will eat solids when he is ready, regardless of when we parents want them too.

I'm having the same problem with my son, but someone told me that if you just give them some to "feed themselves" (we all know they'll play with it) surprisingly, more of it will actually end up in their mouths. It's not worth fighting with them since you know who's gonna win.
The other day I actually gave my son some green beans in bowl with the spoon, handed it to him and let him go at it. He actually enjoyed it, ate a lot of it, and I found it entertaining to watch. Just one suggestion, put a splat mat down on the floor before hand ;)

I have tried all the brands in boxes of baby rice. I have tried apples aswell. Im to scared to give him oatmeal because i used an oatmeal soap and moisturizer and his face swelled up and was really red had a bad reaction to it they say he has eczema so im not sure how he would go eating it. I guess he might not be ready for it.
His so different from my daughter she was having farex in her bottle from 11-12 weeks and eating solids at 4 months

Have you tried apples? That has been a staple for my daughter and even if she isn't feeling well, she will eat that no problem. I also give my daughter a lot of sweet potatoes because she will eat that no matter what. Have you tried rice? Whether it be boxed rice cereal or making your own??? With my daughter, she didn't handle oatmeal well because they said sometimes babies don't handle grains well but it definitely doesn't mean they are allergic to it.

I worry a lot that my daughter doesn't get enough too but like your doctor said... if they are gaining weight fine and not losing it, then they are ok. All babies are different and will do things in their own time. Try not to worry so much about it for now. I hope this helps and GOOD LUCK :)
