Hi :) I recently became a SAHM- well, it fell into my lap! My husband was transferred for work, and I was about 4 months along when we moved. So instead of jumping into a new job, we decided I would just stay home (and unpack and take care of everything before the baby arrived). Part of the reason for us to transfer was so I could stay home. I'm lacking socialization (more so for me than baby boy) and its starting to wear me down!! Any suggestions for getting out and about meeting people? There isnt anything available here, no mommy & me classes, or a YMCA, so its been hard trying on my own! Thanks all!

hey why dont you try the stay and play groups at your local baby clinic, they organise trips out and different play sessions, it wil cost you around 50p-£1 max, they are good for you to socialise with other mums and your son will beable to interact with other children...hope this helps

community centre, library, local hang out like a coffee shop, get out for a walk in the main part of town, go to baby store talk to the manager and ask what local mommies are doing, church groups, playground, a public health nurse may have some suggestions too

i find just going to the mall and walkign around helps alot, plus we own a business, so i go there and visit my parner and the workers. go to a park and if ya see a mum sitting while her kids playing, go sit with her, chances are she feels the same, have a chat

Checkout meetup.com and if there isn't a Mom's group near you then start one! I've been with my Mom's group on there since my daughter was 9months(now 2 1/2) and been doing activities now with my son through it as well, its been a lifesaver for my sanity :)

Most local churches have something going on, even if you are not religious or of that faith they are usually very welcoming.

Find out if there is a MOMS (moms offering moms support) Club international chapter in your area, or a Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS group) they have been a life saver for me!

i started my own playgroup when my 1st son was a few months old.. i posted it on a local site (kijiji) and we ended up with like 12 moms eventually. we are now planning our kids 2nd bday party. all the kids are around the same age. its great.

Try starting your own play group. Put up fliers and have meetings at a park, playground or other kid oriented place. While kids are playing parents can make new friends.
