Stealing from my sister's facebook page. She was complaining about a delay for her daughter due to fog.
"Stupid school and its 3 hour delay. Just cancel. I don't care if they go to school further into the summer. I wish they'd go all year!"
a friend commented: I agree with the all year makes both working parents' life A LOT easier!
"Yes! It's so hard to find a sitter through summer...and expensive! Plus kids tend to get dumb over the summer."
I have a problem with that. Should we send our kids away all year just because it makes our lives "easier", Where is it written that being a parent is or should be easy. And...how selfish. Toss the kiddies out and away. As often as possible. It really does make parents' lives easier i'm sure. free babysitter, don't have to deal with tantrums or make three meals....
I also have a problem with the stupid school. They're jsut trying to keep kids safe while still giving them an education and don't want to go all year because..hey, they have families too. I highly doubt that kids get dumb over the summer. However, would education be better if they went three weeks on, one week off all year round? Although, it would still make babysitters difficult to find, i'd think. Someone enlighten me since my kids aren't in school and I stay home with them.
