My sister in-law suggested I come and bring my son with her when she goes to take her oldest daughter (who is 22months old) to the dentist to get a Fluoride film cover on her teeth (my son is 15months and has 8 ½)
So, I do want to take him to the dentist for the first time get him checked, but what I was not to sure on is the Fluoride cover “protection” the best thing for their teeth.. I have gotten mixed reviews on the net if it is safe to use or not..and if it is not safe..why then do Dentist recommend we use it??

What are your thoughts on the use of Fluoride?
Do you/your childrend use it..why or why not??

I think all water supplies are enhanced with fluoride in the US. I use a Britta for drinking to reduce toxins in my drinking water, but I have no idea if it filters fluoride out also.

I don't get kids tooth paste since so many of them have added sugars, often fake sugars. I think I might to the baking soda and a mint extract. I swear that girl gets some nasty breath.

Vicki i have a well. Here out in the sticks we don't have public water supply. It's great. All i have to pay is the electricity to run the pump and the water tank. If it starts to get a little cloudy you dump bleach down in the well, so many gallons per so many feet the well is deep, let it sit over night and then in the morning run all faucetts in the house and flush the toilet until the bleach smell is gone. Then your well is sanitized and ready to drink.

THE TOOTHPASTE i USE IS FOR KIDS. BANANA.whoops sorry caps...brittany amy once posted about just mixing baking soda with flavour of some sort so doesn't taste awful. maybe natural vanilla or something. you use like I think u said jsut the tiniest bit anyway. or I guess can even just use a toothbrush with nothing. don't see why not.

Flouride at that young? Hell no. I didn't think the dentist was supposed to do it til the kid is old enough not to swallow.... They didn't do our girls til they were 4 or 5 (I forget). I've rethought it though and they won't be getting anymore flouride treatments unless they want them as adults. My son won't ever get them either.

My mom was VERY anti-flouride when I was a kid (she still is) and I think I'm more like her than I care to admit.

That's what I plan on gettting once we run out of tooth paste, being poor I can't get myself to throw it out.

Lilian was just drinking her bath water.... yes gross. But so much better then when she drinks the pool water. I figure at this point, she's getting less flouride then most kids, so why freak. Although the lead thing is a bit different. Maybe give him a sippy or bottle of water while in the tub?

mechanincally deboned meat. 30. lovely.
so heather what do you do about your water? boil? bottled? reverse omsmosis?

and you guys know you can get toothpaste without the sls and flouride, right? health food stores. a good one should have a couple to choose from.

anf now this kinda has me concerned. eli loves tod rink his bath water which aside from being gross in a way is now just kinda worriesome.

Unless all they eat is sugar, there isn't a point to it. I do use toothpaste on my daughter (like a grain of table salt size), when she's had anything sweet that day, other wise nope. Her dentist said her teeth looked great. They counted her teeth and made sure there weren't any cavities; she got a new tooth brush and a sticker.

I don't like that there is fluoride in the water either. We use bottled water. I don't like how much it can spike in the water supply. We got our water review recently and at times the fluoride level was way too high. I'd rather control it myself. Fluoride is good in very small amounts, but so is lead. You don't see them adding that to the water.
