Just wanted to introduce myself. I am a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom to 2 girls with another blessing on the way. My husband is stationed at Ft. Riley and is deploying in 2 weeks. We have lived here for about a year now, but both of us grew up just across the border in Nebraska, so this is close to home compared to our other duty stations.

Your DH will be in my prayers, as will all soldiers.

I'm glad homeschooling works so well for ya'll. I'm thinking about waiting a couple of years then giving it a go. Lexi is very excited to be "in" school right now so if I decide to try it I'm going to wait till the excitement wears off a bit.

Hubby just left for Tikrit, Iraq a couple days ago, he will be gone 12 months.

We have always homeschooled, although both DH and I went to public school in Nebraska. We found that with moving so often in the military and having to deal with my husbands crazy schedule, homeschooling works for us. You never know when you move what the schools will be like. We have lived in 5 different states since we've been married.
Also, we can take vacations when he is home, and the kids have security in knowing their teacher and curriculum won't change every couple years. We are involved in a homeschool group on post, and that helps a lot with keeping busy and having support of other moms.

Hello, Aadel! Where is your DH deploying too? My sister is in the Missouri National Guard and is currently at Camp Clark in Nevada, MO training to head to Afghanstan in a couple of months.

Tell DH thanks for his service!!!

Also, how do you like homeschooling? My DD just started kindergarten and I have considered it off and on. I was homeschooled some during my school years and liked some aspects of it more than others. Not sure if its something I would like doing.
