Double Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookies--yumm!!!!

I got this recipe from a friend who operates a bed and breakfast (Huber's Ferry) near Jefferson City, MO and bakes these fabulous cookies for all her guests.



2-¼ cup all-purpose flour

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 tsp. salt

1 tsp. baking soda

¾ cup firmly packed brown sugar

¾ cup granulated sugar

1 cup softened unsalted butter (2 sticks)

1 tsp. vanilla extract

2 eggs

2 cups semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips

1 cup walnut pieces





In medium bowl, stir together flour, cocoa powder, salt and baking soda.

In a large mixing bowl, beat brown sugar, granulated sugar, softened butter and vanilla until creamy.

Add eggs and beat. Add dry ingredients and mix well.

Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts.

Cover and chill the dough for at least one hour (dough will become stiff after chilling).

Drop mixture by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 10 minutes or until edges are firm.

Cool on a wire rack.

Makes about 50 (2-inch) cookies.
