Not Your Momma's Goulash!

2 lbs. ground beef

1 lb. ground turkey (optional)

1 large chopped onion

2 cans of tomato sauce

2 cans of diced tomatoes

3 minced garlic cloves

3 cups of water

3 bay leaves

2 tbsp of italian seasoning

3 tbsp of worcestershire sauce

1 tbsp seasoned salt

salt

pepper

garlic powder

2-3 cups of elbow macaroni



In a big pot (and I mean the bigger the better), brown and break up the meat over med-high heat until thoroughly cooked. Spoon off any grease (if you must) and add the onions and cook until tender. Then, add the water, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, garlic, bay leaves, worcestershire sauce, italian seasoning, seasoned salt, salt, pepper, and garlic powder and stir well. Pop a lid on it and cook for 20-25 minutes, depending on if you are using 2 cups of noodles or 3 cups. (20 mins for 3 cups or 25 mins for 2.)



Add the macaroni and stir well, then put the lid back on the pot and simmer for 20 mins. Then turn the heat off, take the bay leaves out (if you can find them!) and allow to set for 30 mins or more before serving.



Note: This recipe is for about 6 people but I'm cooking for 3 boys [one is my husband! :)] all of whom will go back for seconds! You can certainly cut it back or add more to customize it for your family. I hope you enjoy because we sure do!
