My 12 year old daughter wants to earn money. I have no problem with that. However, I don't believe a child should get paid for household chores. As a member of the house, we each have responsibilities. But she is also not old enough to legally work and I don't know of anyone she could do odd jobs for that I personally know and trust. Any suggestions?

If she is crafty at all maybe she could find some kind of craft to do such as jewelry making, hair bows, or anything else and try to sell those at a craft fair of some sort...

maybe she could walk dogs, babysit, mow lawn? Man, when i was 12 i would have had to walk 8 miles anywhere to get paid. I don't think i ever got any money till i was 18 and was finally able to get my first job where my neighbor drove me to and from. i then had to move out of my parents house like 5 months later lol maybe that's why i'm not good with money.

You could find extra jobs around the house for her to do, things that aren't part of her normal chore list, such as things that you would normally do.
For example, if you're the one doing the dishes every night, have her do them and then pay her for the extra effort. Or washing the car, raking the yard, etc. Or things that don't normally get done with any regularity, such as cleaning and organizing the attic or basement.

Beyond that, you could walk the neighborhood with her and knock on doors. Ask neighbors if they have any odd jobs, yard or housework etc that they would be willing to pay her for.
At 12, I believe she's also old enough to go for a baby sitter's course, so that's another option.

It's tough being at that age, so sometimes a parent needs to bend their rules a little to help accommodate that in between stage :)
