My 12 year old often forgets to flush the toilet after a bowel movement. My husband has a fit. I have heard it can be a common thing for them to forget to flush. Any other parents have that problem or have had it and solved it?

I have an 11 year old daughter who didn't flush the toilet. She has asperger syndrome. I have posted signs that say "Flush Toilet". It' seems to work for the most part. Occasionally still having problems in that area.

I had the same problem with my daughter when she was around that age. I made a VERY colorful can't-miss signs & hung them up in her bathroom. One said "DON'T FORGET TO FLUSH!!!" & was hung on the wall behind her toilet. Another said "DON'T FORGET TO WIPE!!!" & was hung at eye level on the wall facing the toilet & above the toilet paper. One more was hung on the inside of the bathroom door. It said "DON'T FORGET TO WASH YOUR HANDS!!" It didn't take very long for my daughter to remember to wipe, flush & wash her hands so that she could take the signs down before any of her friends saw them. :)

My 10 yo daughter does this!!!! I feel a little better to know its not just her! I've threatened ( empty threats ) to bag it and leave it on her bed!! We have a septic tank so after peeing I dont care so much, but seriously no one wants to see her sh!t, or anyone else's in the house for that matter. My 3 yo is better at flushing then she is!!! I tend to get worked up about it and my husband thinks its funny. I just pray that she doesn't do this in public!!

i am the only female in the house , so i think that the males should do the dirty work on the bathroom

Oh my this is so my 5 year old. I love the comment about making him get up and go back and flush. I think making him clean the bathroom also sounds like a good idea. I now must add more to your question.....does anyone have any ideas on how to get them to grab more toilet paper if they use the last of it?

Tell your husband to wind his neck in at least it's not drugs or cigarettes your finding in the toilet. I take it there is toilet tissue over it assuming he has used some. Well, he is obviously wiping his own butt, bonus!

Perfectly normal and to be honest really not worth even the slightest bit of concern. Just remind him.. Your 12yr old is obviously busy and in to much of a hurry, unlike his Dad lol

I think that by 12 years old, they certainly should be able to remember to flush.  My recommendation - if they forget, when it's discovered, don't do it for them, make them walk in there and do it themselves.  Have them clean the toilet or bathroom as a "reminder".  If you stay consistent, I believe they'll soon remember.
