She's 4ft 9in and 115lbs. She's built like her daddy. She's solid. She's got a bit of a big belly area. She has outgrown size 16 in girls sizes. She's too large in her torso to get into (or look good in) Junior sizes. I looked at JCP online and plan to go visit there because they have some styles that go to 18 and 20 GIRLS plus. Any other suggestions on places to get cute( NOT HOOCHIE) clothes for her that will not cost me an arm and a leg? I'm having a frugal streak and trying to stay on my budget. Also, I do not sew very well. So that's out. Thanks for any help!

My daughter has the same issue. The junior sizes never worked for her. They were too tight in the waist and even and XL fit tighter in juniors than the size 16 girls clothes. Very frustrating for both of us. We would on occasion find some 18/20 girls plus sizes at Kohls, Target, etc. but they were few and far between. I sometimes had more luck at the resale shops (Once Upon a Child in my area had 14/16 and 18/20 girls sizes) although the selection is limited. A couple of growth spurts have helped. She's 11 1/2 now and at 5'1" and 125lbs she's actually shopping in the misses dept with much better luck. I look for petite sizes and don't have to worry about heming to many pants that way. Good luck to you and your daughter. Wish I could be more helpful.

Hi. My daughter is 10 and she is 5'5" and 130 lbs. She wears an 11 1/2 woman's shoe size. She refuses to wear any girly clothes. Flowers ruffles or pink she tells me " I will get you back for making me wear this". She calls herself a tomboy. But she doesn't like sports. She love art and she teaches herself songs on her keyboard. I wish I knew a fashion type for her. I started shopping in women clothes for her it's so boring for her age. Does anyone have any ideas for me?

It is so hard to fine clothes to fit my daughter, she is about ready to turn 11 and she weighs 122lbs. She get into some size 16 but not many and it all depends where you shop because size 16 or 18 run very small. She gets very discouraged. We have found some shorts at old navy in jrs. size 5 that work.

I've had some luck at Cato, and they do very nice sales regularly. But the supply is very limited.

i found a guy on ebay, and have bought several items from them. It's called "High Maintenance Girls"

my molly has down syndrome, is short statured, and i don't particularly want her to look like Britny at age 13

I recently joined this circle and I'm excited to finally see someone else other than me with the same problem. My daughters are 10 & 5. I couldn't agree more on finding them decent clothing for a ten year old. I have had a hard time finding clothing for her. MY mother sews and I ask her to make her clothes but don't ask your ten year old pre-teen if she wants her clothes hand made we are working on something I hope. Thanks for your time. Hope to hear from you soon or whenever theres time. Sarah Gonzales

My daughter is 10 years old...5ft 4in and 139lbs. I'm having the same issues with her clothes. I LOVE clothes from Justice b/c they go up to a size 20 and I also like the 1/2 sizes up to size 20 at JCP. CWD Kids go up to 16. I have googled online but have not found any place with girly clothes for more mature kids!

At 5'5", 130, your daughter should be able to shop in the Jr dept. Just be careful because some of the clothes are not appropriate for a 10 yo, but you should be able to find more interesting things there than in the adult dept. As for 11 1/2 shoes - good luck! My 15 yo wears an 11, and her pediatrician says that is getting more and more common, but the shoe stores don't seem to have figured it out yet.

Ronni, thank you so much! You were very helpful. I didn't think about petites! That might totally work out. We found a few things at JCP, but not much. I felt so bad for her. Her younger sister is built like me and is in a size 10 and I could have spent hundreds on her and had bags and bags. TOT: I'm a Mears too! I was born a Mears, then I was adopted. :)
