Out of the blue Allissa will just hit for no reason. I understand kinda why she does it when she's angry of frustrated but it doesn't make it okay and I don't know how to get her to stop.

Yes thanks unfortunatally this I have tried and still do but isn't making a big difference...but baby steps is good...it's difficult cause she's hitting daycare workers as well...thanks again

I'm from the old-school where I don't believe in spanking or any of the sort, but a firm discipline and firm voice will let your child know that you are the parent and what you say goes. Reasoning to a 3 yr old is too overwhelming for them, and only gets them frustrated. Besides, at this stage of their lives, they are very curious and stubborn when they don't get what they want. And they vent their frustration on anyone who gets in their way. Try finding a way to see what's causing the frustration and make an ally of your 3-yr old, determine the problem, be patient, then make her see that hitting is not the only way to solve a problem. She'll find more constructive ways next time.

When i worked in the preschool room at a daycare , we used to tell the kids to "use their words" to try and explain their frusteration , usually they were hitting as a way to exspress what they couldn't say , as soon as they could vocalize what they were feeling they stopped hitting.Also we would tell them it was not okay to hit and then we would take their hand and rub it gently wherever they hit and say "gentle hands" and show them how to be gentle.
