My 10 year old daughter is insisting on walking to and from school. If she walks home from school this means she will be home alone for 2 hours. At what age do you start letting a child stay home alone?

I think it really depends on the maturity of the child. There are "Home Alone" courses available in many communities that she can take as well (just to ease your mind). You could also check with the "childrens aid" in your area for guide lines.
I know with my 11 year old boy, I would trust him enough to leave him while I ran to the store on short errands, but not 2 hours. Keeping in mind boys do not mature as fast as girls do.
