My son is 11yrs old and he ocassionally sleepwalks, once he was about to open the main entrance door. He had history of Asthama. Can anyone suggest what to do to handle this situation,so he also feels comfortable.

My 9 year old occasionally sleepwalks.  A friend told me that her son's doctor told them to cut the caffiene out of his diet and he has not sleptwalked since.  I have tried this and my son has not either (been about 2 months).

Both my children sleep walk. My 15 yr old still does it to this day , Unfortunately there is nothing that you can do , I have asked many specialists and noone has come up with many ideas except one that i found helped. That is eliminate caffinated drinks 4 to 5 hours before bed time and also limit the amount of chocolate etc that contains caffiene.

Also you can close his door and leave the closest light on outside of his room, usually when they open the door the sudden brightness wil either wake them up or send them back to bed, u can try the old wet newspaper trick outside the door, the sudden coldness on the feet usually wakes them up.
