I have an 11 year old daughter who wants to start developing like her friends and even her younger sister has started wearing a bra because she has started developing. How do I convince her there is nothing wrong with her and that people develop at different times in life.

there are some books from the american girl doll collection about growing up and developing that are absolutely wonderful. helps to explain diferent stages, feelings, and will help her understand that everyone will develope differently. highly recomended!

you are very welcome. Izza and I still refer to the book often and she gets a giggle out of checking to see what stage she's in. She's even brought the book to school and now her teacher recomends it to other parents.

I just went through the oppisite of this with my 10 year old daughter. She was concerned because she seems to be a little more developed than the other girls in her class. She also is the only girl in her class who has gotten her period.  I was unsure how to handle all her questions and concerns so I did some research and found a great book....It's from The American Girl Library and it's called The Care & Keeping of You - the body book for girls by Valorie Lee Schaefer. It really helped my daughter understand that all girls develope diffrently and at different times and it's normal. It also helped to open up the lines of communication about other important questions and concerns she was having but wasn't sure how to approch me about.

I hope this helps.
