My kids have trouble staying focused on homework and are easily distracted by my parents who are retired and live with us. The kitchen provides the best lighting and plenty of room.

Thanks. I'll try the iPod idea. We haven't done that one yet.

My son also does his homework at the kitchen table and is easily distracted. He finds that when he listens to music on his ipod it is easier to concentrate. Each child is different though. My son and I are a lot a like in use of music while doing homework, I am in college and use the ipod method also. Actually one of my proffessors insisted I bring an ipod to class with me when we had tests, math, because she wondered if I would be less stressed and do better on them when listening to music and I was! My grade went up, and when my son started to do this with homework his grades went up also.

If you want to get your boys motivated then you should provide something in return of doing homework. Tell them that if you guys do the home work then I would give you the gift they like or give them something good to eat.
