When is the right time for makeup???

I believe 11 is too young for make up....for now lip gloss, especially for school is just fine. However, maybe let her do a little more like maybe blush on special occasions. Maybe let her know that make up is just there to enhance what you already have. Girls now a days plaster their faces up too much. GOOD LUCK!!!

I allow my 10 year old a little mascara, and clear lip gloss on special occasions. She does not ask to wear it all the time tho. We have talked about make up, and keeping your skin clean and fresh, we also discuss what is too much. It has been, and still is a huge learning process but we are going along really well. I do not want a little lolita and this is working!

We do not use make up except a bit of mascara. I let my now 17 yr old start using mascara when she turned 16.

No and oh yeah No..lol.. joking aside lip gloss is okay, but the rest can wait in my opinion. My daughter just started wearing eyeliner this year ..14 high school..puberty..ect..but at 11 no way! I know what goes through my mind when I see these babies with a ton of makeup on ..yeah not mine. They've a whole life time ahead of them to wear makeup.

I am having the same conversation with my 12 year old. Her friends are wearing full makeup and everyone I talk to says "shes in the 7th grade it's time" I remember that age an the trouble I got into and I guess I'm just trying to prevent the same problems I had. I told her 14 but now I think maybe gloss and eye shadow. I'm so confused!

Well I may be an unwelcome opinion on this one. My oldest is 10 and wanted to wear makeup. I decdided instead of arguing or having her sneak it, I talked to her about being able to wear it any time she wanted but the fact that it had to look natural, like she wasn't wearing it at all. I told her that if we could really tell then it was too much. We went and she bought with her money some appropriate natural colors and it has worked wonderfully for us. We also talked about the need to wash your face even more if you do wear it etc. It turned into a good learning experience instead of mom saying no.

My daughter is 11 years old as well. I do allow her to wear a little make-up every now and again. And I also think it depends on the child as well. If they are more mature than some at that age. When she does wear make-up I always help her with it as well to show her how much to put on so she does not put to much on.

My daughter is 12 and in the 7th grade. We went thru that last year and for the most part I did not allow any make-up unless it was a "special occasion" and even then it was only lipgloss, shear or shiny, not too much color! This year Im allowing a lil more color for the lips but mostly gloss! good luck w your daughter!! I fear but am embracing the young girl my daughter is becoming!!! hope that helps!-
