I think $5 seems about right, just sit her down and explain to her the new rule and also that in the grown up world if you want it you have to save. For the more expensive things I say to mine that if she saves half I'll match it. My daughter is 13 now she gets £5 a week for two days pot washing, putting the pots away every night and helping me pick up when i ask her. She gets £10 a week for dinner money so iv just started saying that if she takes a health pack lunch rather then staying dinners and eating rubbish she gets to keep this too as long as it goes on the stuff she wasn't. I am just trying to make her choose the better option.

I give her $5 pocket money a week. And if she does any extra jobs i sometimes give her more. How much a week do u think is right for her age? I ask that she keeps her room tidy, and to make sure it's properly cleaned by Fridays. I have also said to her if there are clean dishes on the sink to dry them and put them away without me having to ask her and she will get extra money. This doesn't get done very often. When she has a little money she will spend it on little things instead of saving for the things she really wants. How do I encourage her to go with out little things and save??

Just because she is getting to that age. I give my daughter jobs which she gets pocket money for. I can't afford it so she saves and buys it sometimes I'll give her a bit more money if she's saving and shown she's trying to save hard. I think it teaches them to value money and then look after there stuff, also if she wants stuff she gets it with birthday n Xmas money.
