My daughter wants a bra...Really?

hehe, there is no way I would really want a bra either, lol. She just wants to be like you. You know how little girls want to dress and act older? For some reason kids think that when they have friends that wear vests, They want a Proper Bra, and like tell all there friends about how they have a proper one. It makes kids feel more mature, I don't know why though. I guess its just a phase and when she really does need one, she will have one ready XD

LOL!! Ditto & yep! My 10 yr old started borrowing her friends bras when I wouldn't spend the money for something she doesn't need yet. After a few months I finally bought her the cheepo, "wouldn't support anything but since you don't have anything, that's ok" kind of bra's. They're cute. She loves them & wears them every day.

But it makes me sad that she's in such a hurry to mature physically. And it scares the tar outta me that she's in no hurry what-so-ever to mature in other ways.

My daughter (8) asked for one a few months ago, and I told her I would think about it, but the topic never came up again. When it does I will buy her one, I have no issue with her wearing a training bra. She knows what they are for, and if she wants to feel grown up, good for her. She also have a stick of deodorant that she uses when she remembers, maybe once a week.. She doesn't need it but she likes the novelty of having it, no harm done.

Get her an undershirt or an undershirt style one - that is what we did with my daughter when she was a couple of years younger than she is now.



She had gotten one of the cotton pre-trainers [like a sports bra but with the thin adjustable straps - covers like a tank bikini top] in a lot of clothes handed down from a cousin. So we told her she couldn't wear that one out of the house but that we would get her some undershirts.



She wore both off and on for a bit - and did wear the other out of the house a couple of times till the novelty wore off. Now I hardly see her wear either one unless she's using the undershirts as pjay tops, she finally came to the conclusion that the pre-trainer wasn't fun to wear.

Wow and I thought I was the only mom in the free world with a daughter who wants a training bra! She's 7 (8 in November) and asks me everytime we go to Target or Walmart to look at the training bras. I'll let her look but there is noooooooooooo way I'll buy one for her. One day we were out shopping and stopped in a store (Justice). I asked one of the gals working there if I could ask her a personal question. I asked her how old she was when she started wearing a training bra - she said to my daughter -- that she didn't start wearing one until she was 11 almost 12! I told my daughter, see, you're too young right now. The gal agreed with me and told my daughter she should wait until she's a little older!

i went through this with my oldest daughter when she was five when asked why she thought she needed one she said to keep warmer, so we bought cami now that she is active and has more friends we went ahead and bought her tank bra they look like cami t shirts with out the extra lengh she loves them and wears them proudly even tells her sister that is 16months younger that no one can she her naenaes when she has one on!

I have an 8 1/2 year old boy and his thing is he wants deodorant. I know he doesn't need it, he just sees older boys using it or talking about it and he wants to be big. Maybe get her an undershirt and let her feel like she's growing up. Same thing as a lot of the other moms said. It's hard, I think now is the age where they want to grow up and they're so close, but really they're still so small!! I guess we'll always think they're small!!

I would have a talk with her and get her some training bras. honestly I wouldn't be worried if I were you. My problem is, my girl says she will NOT wear a bra when she grows up!!!

i have 6 children 4 of wich are girls! i really dont see any thing wrong with them wanting to be like mom or an older sister! we should feel proud our daughters wanting to be like their moms! my 8 year old went threw the phase of wanting to wear a bra i got her lil training bras their like a sports bra almost i found them at walmart reall cheep they have them in the girls clothes! she wore them for a while and now its not a big deal to her!

I have 3 daughters and my baby girl who is 8 wants to wear a bra because her big sisters do. My oldest daughter cleaned out her way too small bras and gave them to her, she wears them like it's a crown and she is the Queen of England...lol. But at the same time she is completely aware why females wear them and why she doesn't need to just yet.

I bought my daughter (turned 8 in March) a few little sports bras because she was starting to get a little pointy. I don't really think she is developing, she just has a little bit of a tummy which in turn has made her little boobies point out a bit. I figured that a few sports bras couldn't hurt.

My daughter loved the idea of the training bra. It was actually a good alternative to undershirts because she complained they were bunchy, but I worried that she needed the extra layer during the winter in NY. She has a few in her drawer, but now that spring has sprung, she doesn't even consider wearing them. I wouldn't worry about it. She should be proud to be a young lady.

My daughter was the same way! She has had a fascination with breasts since she was about 2. I don't understand it. I did diffuse the bra request by explaining that she wasn't ready for one just yet, but that we could get her some undershirts. She now has a whole collection of cute cami style undershirts and loves them.

My oldest is now nine. A couple of years ago I bought her her first bra at her request. She still has no need to wear one. On occasion she will wear one, but honestly once the novelty wore off she was not so interested. I got her one of those sport bra types with NO PADDING. She very quickly found that it was not nearly as glamorous as she had hoped. HAHAHA

Maybe you should have a little bit of a woman-woman talk to her about why girls wear bras and why she's not ready to wear one yet. But maybe you could also come up with a compromise. She could pick out a training bra and wear it at home under her clothes but not to school. unfortunately, my daughter will probably need a training bra before she turns 9 as my family all develops early. I know daddy's not looking forward to that!

:D that is so cute! My daughter does like to play around with the idea of wearing one & unfortunately for her dad & I it probably won't be much longer, but I normally just laugh her off :)
