couple times a week my daughter wakes up with a "headache" doesn't seem to have them any other time of day just when she wakes up. not acting out denies anything else. hasn't been sick no allergies. just wakes up with headache and takes some motrin and is fine. thought it was something at school but she has them through out the weekend spring break ect. any suggestions? we have taking her to the doctors for them but pediatrician doesn't seem to be worried by them. blood work was fine. she is able to go about her day just says my head hurts bad. but is up playing with sister like normal

Recently my son was also waking up with a headache. Did not know what it was as it was only during the mornings. I made the room darker so that the light would not wake him, but that didn't help. Then a week later we went with my sister and the rest of the family to a camp ground for the day, he was swimming, by the evening he was moaning that he had earache. Took him to the ENT found out that he had a really bad ear infection and it was building up for awhile, it has been a week now and he has not complained about his head being sore. I would have her ears checked. Hope it gets better soon.

Thanks everyone! we did have her eyes checked out 3 by 3 different eye doctors and all came back lets recheck in 6 months if still having headaches, she sees a chiropractor 3 times a week and that all comes out fine-her neck and back are ten times better then mine. how she sleeps i can see that. growth spurts is a differedt possibility .

My daughter had this same problem... come to find out it was just a growth spurt. Sounds crazy, but she shot up all of a sudden like 2 inches after having headaches for a while.

could possibly be the way she is sleeping, or the pillow she is using? May want to get her eyes checked?
I myself have suffered with migranes/and headaches since childhood and the doctors are not very helpful. The only thing that helped me was a chiropractor and I went when I was younger. But not sure if you daughter is too young probably.
My son complains about his head hurting sometimes as well, I was thinking it's allergies our just repeating my complaint of a sore head.
Hope she feels better!

Try letting her wake up in the room without the light on and with the blinds or curtains shut. Also when she awakes have her lay there before she gets out of bed to be sure she doesn't gets up too fast. Getting up and out of bed too fast can cause headaches and dizziness. If this doesn't work after a few times of trying it. Keep talking to the pediatrician and have her get her vision checked as well. GOOD LUCK
