We have been trying to potty train my 3 year old son for a while now. At daycare he does really well...usually not having any accidents at all. He will even get up during nap and let the teacher know if he has to go but once he gets home it is a different story. He never tells us when he has to go. We automatically take him every 30 minutes or 1 hour like daycare does but he never goes on his own. Then if he goes in his pull up he tells us it was an accident. I don't know what to do differently, does anyone have any suggestions?

Maybe he feels that you will be dissapointed when he does go to the loo! Try praising him his good deed, then he'll start going on his own. What most parrents do wrong is they put presure and they make a fuss about when he/she wet their pants. My daughter decided 5 days before her 2nd b-day that she wanted to wee in the potty, she only battled with the poop for a month but decided that it felt yucky between her bum cheeks and she did the no 2 in the potty aswell. Now my son off 2y 4mths is also potty training himself, the only problem is he sits when he wee instead of standing, so I'm trying to get my hubby to take him to the loo to teach him how the MEN does it. Just give him time and space and alot of praising then you'll see things will start for the good.

Have you tried putting a potty seat in his room? This really helped our daughter. It sort of served as a visual reminder, so when she was palying in her room, she knew she didn't have to run too far to use the potty, plus she really liked having privacy when she pooped. Once she got into a good day to day potty rhythm, we got rid of the potty seat in her room & just told her the bathroom door was always open & she could go in there whenever she needed to. Oh & we put a little bath mat under the potty seat in her room to catch the sprinkles :). Good luck!
