My 9 year old son has slowly been coming out of what I hope is a phase where he's afraid to eat anywhere but home (including Grandparents houses etc, no where but here). Anyone else experience this??

Yes - I had a problem when my daughter had taken a bite of a cookie that had peanuts in it - after that I had issues with her eating anywhere outside the home. She didn't even want to eat at school the lunch I sent her. I went to school and spoke to the nurse. She was so great and offered to have my daughter eat with her. That lasted a few days and then my daughter was ok eating her own lunch in the cafeteria again. Try to get others to make him feel safe and assure him the foods are ok. I think they reach a certain age (maybe 8, 9, 10 yrs) where they internalize the responsibility of the allergy and they get afraid. I gave my daughter more education on how to make sure her foods are safe - how to read labels, what to watch out for. Then she was able to feel she was in control instead of just scared.
