I didn't know where else to talk about this but I think my child is allergic to not only some foods but medications also....I wish I could help him more...

My son allergic to nuts milk and eggs had severe hives all over his body for many years. After two years of obsessively recording everything he ate, touched, or smell I realized that it had something to do with the singular. 72 hours after I stop giving him it to him, and 11 years later never again has he had such a severe skin reaction/ hives. What was in the singulair that caused it? No one seems to know, but my guess is that there must be some connection in the ingredients with at least one of the food allergens he is allergic to.

He also took Zyrtec for many years and once we tried the pills instead of the liquid and he was itching all over.



After these experiences I keep him away from medication as much as possible and if he must take any, like antibiotics, I always as the doctor for the liquid version. My mother instinct thinks it must be something to do with the combining or synthetic ingredients used in the pills.

Go to The Allergist Mom. Sarah is not only my wonderful daughter but she is a pediatric allergist and 3 of her 4 children have life threatening food allergies. If you are new to her site go from the beginning and read all of her entries and the comments. She has a beautiful community of followers.

Thanks a million...I have been looking into things..I have an appoint scheduled to see an allergist ....that is just a start..I think I'm going to start with dairy products first...my son was a breastfed baby..I found out that he has a severe allergy to shell fish but we are going in for more test on Monday.... I was looking up what kind of test is more accurate then others recently soo..this is where I'm going to make a starting point to see what happens.....

Hi Freda,

When your child is reacting to foods and medications, you have to step outside the box and look at the bigger picture. Just so you know, you won't find the answers through any doctor because their business is to keep their patients coming and on medications (it's how the medical industry works!) so you have to do your own research. It can be frustrating & overwhelming, but it's for YOUR CHILD. My baby was not tolerating milk or soy (amongst all the other crap in infant formulas) at all & doctors refused to consider anything other than the possibility that it could be something wrong in his G.I. Tract, which I knew was a lie! I made the decision to become a HEALTH NUT & it's one of the best things I could've done. I took my baby off formula & started him on pure unsweetened coconut milk and only gave him organic foods and weined him off all but 1 seizure medication and replaced them with natural herbs and his "skin condition" completely cleared up in a couple months & it was bad! He was having bloody stools and seemed to be in pain a lot and all that stopped when I stopped putting SYNTHETICS in my precious baby, so take your time, and do your research and allow your motherly instincts to guide you & I'm sure everything will be fine.
