my son was born with an omphalacele which is only different from gastroschisis because there is a membrane surrounding the intestines.this is the closest group i could find for kids with that but i was wondering if there were more moms whose children were born with it.

yea hes doing great.but my dr actually waited to do surgery untill he was a year old and we just kept it wrapped and let skin grow over it.it reduces tha number of surgeries you have to have done and its a quicker recovery time.he said he'll be able to play any contact sports he wants when hes older.he's 3 now and i had a scheduled c-section at 37 1/2 weeks because his was almost tha size of a cantelope and since it had a membrane around it they didnt want it to pop

No but there was a little girl born 10 days after my Gastro-boy who was a few incubators down from us in the NICU. It's really very close to gastroschesis. The only visible difference was that hers came pretty much out the middle and my son's came out to the side. When they got her intestines back in they re-shaped her scar into something that looks very much like a belly-button where my son's scar goes from his belly button to halfway around his belly.
How did he fare? How old is he/ was he early and is he doing well now?
