I have twin girls that were diagnosed with eczema at just 3 months! They are 19 years old now. We've spent 18 years trying everything everyone recommended!!! We came to the point where we knew when flare-ups got bad (not responding to all the stuff we kept at home) the dermatologist would set up a round of prescriptions (usually 4 or 5 meds - some to take orally, some to apply on skin) that we had to follow in specific order and timing for as much as 8 weeks before getting the eczema under control.

You know, babies can't tell us how much it bothers them; but once my daughters could communicate the biggest problem was the itching - that began days before we'd see the red spots showing up.

The other thing with all the prescriptions we noticed was that the skin rarely returned to completely smooth and healed. It was almost like it was scarring in areas that repeatedly broke out.

Then, in June 2010, I found out about RENEW from a health and wellness company. I was totally resistant to try it because I thought it was a multi-level type thing and IF the lotion worked it would be super expensive OR if it wasn't expensive then it wouldn't work any better than any of the hundreds to lotions we'd already tried. BOY WAS I WRONG!

I went ahead and became a member so I could get the lotion as cheap as possible and I was curious about the other products they claimed would be better for our health. When they arrived, delivered to my door, a few days later we applied the RENEW that night before bedtime. One of my girls had a huge (8 x 6 inches) spot of eczema on her back that we'd been trying to get rid of for about 2 weeks - very close to that point where we go in to the dermatologist. It was bright red (like sunburn red) in many areas (it was really several spots that had spread and grown together), some areas were cracking, and the itching was driving my girl nuts (she's also allergic to benedryl (diphenhydramine(sp?))! Needless to say, we were both very skeptical about it working well on this and concerned it might burn or sting when applied - so we started out slow. Just putting a bit on an area about an inch or so big she said it seemed to feel cool and soothing, so I put more on more quickly. She noticed less itching within minutes and went on to bed. The next morning the angry, bright red areas were not so red! Even though there was a long way yet to go we could SEE AND FEEL a difference. The skin didn't feel dry, scaly, rough or itchy!!! THIS WAS DIFFERENT FROM ALL THE OTHER LOTIONS WE'VE TRIED!
After learning more about the RENEW product we learned they also make a bath oil, a hand soap, and a body wash to work with this lotion. So we now use the entire RENEW line of products. That big angry spot on her back FULLY healed in about 6 weeks (2 wks less than what the dermatologist's treatment would take) - and when I say fully, I mean fully. Usually after a round of 4 or 5 meds to treat these really bad rounds of eczema the skin is still needing more healing and as I said earlier, some areas seem scarred - they get thicker and almost leathery. But after 6 weeks using RENEW her back was so well healed it was a smooth as new skin!

We are so blessed to have found out about this - the RENEW, the whole product line, the many other products made by this company, and even this company! When I think of all the years we've struggled with this - I really wish I'd learned about RENEW much sooner. It would have saved my girls years of discomfort - and spared them much embarrassment during those socially awkward years too!

I'm not trying to sell any of you on becoming members or anything like that. But if you want to try RENEW the best way is to be a member - short of that, I'd be willing to send you a sample - just send me a private message here or on my FB page or email me at allmyearthlybest at gmail dot com.

Try dove unscented and aveeno or baby bliss drerma cream. And for the most part put cotton clothing on your child it helps their skin easier to breathe. And after you get the baby out of the bath always pat her dont rub it only irritates the skin more.
My daughter has had it since she was little and shes two and a half now. Though now she doest flare up as much.

my son has tried so many different things for his eczema from aquaphor, eucerin, cetaphil, hydrocortizone, vaseline, cocoa butter cream, you name it we used it..then i found a health and wellness store that I am now partnered with doesnt have toxins and chemicals in it and there is this lotion that is specifically for eczema/psoriasis/dry skin called RENEW. When i first used it my son flared up with allergies and hives but his skin wasnt dry anymore. So I stopped using it thinking it was the scent in the lotion, but he also had other things wrong with him at the time. So once he got better and completely health i decided to use the lotion again and I have been using it for 2wks now and saw a complete change in his skin, it is no longer dry and absolutely no hives. I also give him a bath and shower every morning and night with this gold bar soap that exfoliates his skin and right after apply the RENEW lotion. Before becoming a member to this health and wellness store I was buying different detergent and body soap to use for my son that was all unscented. But now, because of this wonderful store all of their products are non-toxic and doesnt contain harsh chemicals which allows me to use the same laundry soap with all of our clothes and refrain from buying unscented soap and creams for his skin. This store's products works wonders for my son's skin!! #relievedmom

Lactobacillus acidophilus (probiotics) can help!

Food allergies frequently cause dermatological problems such as eczema. In fact, it is estimated that approximately one third of young children with atopic eczema suffer from clinically significant food allergies.
This study is an evaluation of 10 breastfed infants with atopic eczema who were allergic to cow's milk. Lactobacillus GG was given to the nursing mothers at a dose of 2x1010 colony- forming units twice daily for one month. Over a one-month period, this therapeutic intervention with Lactbacillus GG resulted in significant symptomatic improvements. There was a substantial reduction in alpha1-antitrypsin in the treated infants, but not in the group receiving the whey formula without Lactobacillus GG. These results indicate that therapy with probiotic bacteria may reduce GI inflammation, promote intestinal health and cause improvements in eczema in patients with food allergies.

I use Cetaphil cream on my son and daughter, and it has always worked really well for them. It absorbs into the skin easily and is not greasy, and it relieves my daughter's itching. We have a medicated cream from the doctor, but I use that very sparingly. I also use Dove bodywash on both of my kids -- it was recommended by our pediatrician -- it is very gentle and smells good, but has not led to flare-ups...I hope this helps :)

Xmaease is absolutely fantastic. It's a natural cream from New Zealand. We have been using it for about a year and its great. We had to apply it several times a day to begin with but now we only use it when we get flair-ups. Hope this helps.
