Am I teaching my son bad eating habits?

My youngest son has an allergy to egg and his father is on a low-fat diet due to gall bladder problems. My eldest boy and I both miss some of the food that they can't eat, so occasionally we go down the shop together and get a piece of cake or a mini-quiche. He knows he is not allowed to tell his brother what we ate, in order not to make him feel bad, but I am getting a little nervous that I might be setting him up for an eating disorder, teaching him to "sneak" food. Has anyone else had this problem, and how did the kids go? Did they understand that it is about the other person, not the food? He is 7, and has a laugh about it, but I am still worried.

I wouldn't hide it. We need to teach our kids that there are people who can't eat certain things. My son is lactose intolerant and fully understands the consequences if he eats dairy products that haven't been made specially with his milk in them.

i wouldn't worry about it. I do this with my two older daughters (6 and 5) when i am out with them aloe because DS''s allergies mean they miss out on a lot of the "fun" foods other kids are eating. DS is only 3 though and doesn't yet fully comprehend why the girls get things he doesn't so I make sure they dont tell him. They know it is only about making sure he doesn't get upset, so it isn't really sneaking food. It is just enjoying a treat with mum in an environment that doesn't cause tears.
