My daughter can't have dairy, so I'm looking at using a non-dairy whipped topping for her cake. Here's the website for the only truly Kosher whipped topping...but I'm not sure about the non-soy part. You may need to contact them. My local Publix will order it for me since they don't normally keep it in stock.

My daughter has milk, eggs, soy, & wheat allergies...this is what I use and it's EASY:

3 c powdered sugar

1/3 c palm oil (shortening type)

2-4 T rice milk (as needed)

2 t vanilla

food coloring (if desired)

Put sugar, palm oil & vanilla in mixer and blend on low.  Add rice milk slowly until desired consistency.  After fully blended, add food coloring and mix until evenly dispersed.

The Kid-Friendly Food Allergy Cookbook has a few different recipes. One basic frosting recipe in any cookbook has a shortening base. One recipe in this book calls for:
1/2 c margaring
1/2 c shortening
4 c powdered sugar
4 t vanilla
you can add Cocoa powder to make chocolate frosting

Anothother one she has is
1 T powdered egg whites (you can use just one egg white and cut out 1 T of water)
1 1/3 c posdered sugar
2 T water
of course you need to be sure it's a dairy-free margarine...which I'm having a hard time finding. My daughter has dairy allergy, and I'm having the hardest time finding all this dairy-free stuff that's suppose to be available.

I use calcium enriched oat milk (by Vitasoy) in replacement of milk and soy. My daughter is unable to eat dairy, soy or rice.

We love the Cherrybrook icing. I use rice milk with all my cake mixes and Spectrum Palm oil. My daughter is allergic to dairy, soy, all nuts and eggs so its a challenge when it comes to sweets.

Check out my blog.  There are tons of recipes including one for frosting.  Leave out the cream cheese and use rice milk.

Cherrybrook Kitchens makes several allergen free products including frosting. You would just use rice milk instead of regular milk in their mix (thats how they say to make it). I would imagine you could substitute rice milk for reg milk in a frosting recipe. I tend to be a little lazy and use the Cherrybrook Kitchen stuff...
