My 9 month old son just had the food allergy test done this week and I've been told to avoid cow's milk, eggs, wheat, and peanuts. So I've been thrown for "the loop". I,personally, have never been allergic to any food, but since I'm still breastfeeding I'm having to change so much so quick that I'm really struggling. I've been to the natural markets around town but still trying to discover some staples to fall on for snacks, main meals for morning, noon, and night, and what to do with all of the restricted food in my house. My husband, of course, can keep eating it but I'm disappointed every time I open the fridge. I need some encouragement!

My 21mo old & I are allergic to eggs, peanuts and mildly to wheat.  "Ener-G Egg replacer" can be found in health food stores and natural food aisles in grocery stores.  I use it in all my baking: cookies, quick breads etc.  You can't tell the difference (I think). Regarding the wheat, my son had what the doc called a false positive, so that could be possible for your son too.  You'll get through the adjustment period (I know it can be tough) and it'll be easy from there on out. Before my son's test he had really bad rashes on his face and they cleared up with removing the allergens and also changing the pacifier to one that touched his face less. Good luck!

You are awesome!  Hang in there.  I have a couple suggestions.  First off check out my blog for some recipes that contain none of those things your son is allergic too.  Second encourage your husband to eat like you do at home.  Keep him a supply of his favorite "no" snacks to have in his car or at his office.  Third, buy some gorgeous avocado's, and your favorite bag of corn chips and start loving guacamole!

Put a mark on your calendar for two weeks out from the first day you make these dietary changes.  I bet by the time you reach it, you will be feeling like an old hat at this food allergy eating thing!

Let me know if you have any specific recipes you really like making that contain some of his "no" ingredients.  I can make you a new one.

Oh, and forgive last nights post.  We just started a rotation diet and I had a rough day.  I think the post is funny though!
