new to homeschooling

well I can tell you that I had struggle back and forth if to homeschool and send my little one to school. my neighbord told me that the best thing you can do for your child is being with him and its sooo true!!! if you can stay at home.. go for it!.. try to post in craiglist.com and to yahoo local homeschool groups .. good luck!!

First thing you should do is check out www.hslda.org and find out the laws for your state, then check out the homeschooling groups in your area.

You should also decide what kind of homeschooling will be best for you and decide where you'll get curriculum, if you want to get curriculum.

Then let him learn at his pace, that's the great thing about homeschooling, your child can learn as fast, or as slow as they need to without feeling like they have to conform to the norm.

Hi Jarrell. I too want to start more structured home-schooling in the fall. I know that there are programs with homeschool associations, it just depends on where you live. I live in a relatively small city and have found a couple groups. I think the best place to look is at a church somewhere. You could try calling during office hours and asking if they know of anyone or anywhere that has an established home school group. If they don't know they might be able to put you in touch with some one who home schools and who could show you the ropes. You could always start your own too! Let me know how it goes! Good luck with your mom too; I know how that is. Frustrating!
