I hope I'm not too late in answering this. I'll see if I can help you. :) If she will be going to a public school your child needs to be pre-screened to assess where she is at developmentally before she can be registered for school. Which is usually done when kids are around 3-4 yrs old. Assuming you've already done that you should get something in the mail from her school with everything in it you need to enroll her. (where you live in your school districts boundries will determine which school she goes to) Sometimes kids can fall through the cracks, which is what happened with mine, so it's good that you are being proactive instead of waiting for them to send you what you need.
If you don't know what school she should attend you can try a few things such as simply searching online for a list of public schools in your area. (searching by the City you live in ) They should have a website for your district. There you should be able to find info to get the ball rolling for enrollment. You could also just call the nearest elementary school & tell them about your situation & they'll probably be more than happy to steer you in the right direction to get you started.
There is also something called open enrollment. For example, if you don't like the schools in your district & you want to send her somewhere out of your district you have to get an application from the school of your choice & fill out the application. If it's accepted she can attend that school but keep in mind that if you go out of your district you'll probably have to provide transportation for her to & from the school.
I had a little trouble with this too but it's much easier than you think. I hope that helps. Good luck!
