ohh also....heres a few tips i was told by nurses/doctors in NICU for little ones with colds.
*get the bathroom nice and steamy, stand in there for 5-10mins with your little one, the moisture in the air will help break up the congestion in the nasal passages.
*try putting a little bit of baby baulsum on the outside of your little ones socks/booties while in bed, the vapours slowley rise up from under the blankets while the little one sleeps and gently relieves the blocked up feeling, also since its not touching any skin, you dont have to worry about any irritation.

Olbus oil for children is great.
my 15month old twin boys both got a terrible cold when they were first born from a sick nurse in NICU, then they both got swine flu twice at about 12 weeks old and again at 20weeks old(due to silly sick people at supermarkets wanting to touch the twins, and not listening to me when i tell them to back off) after many sleepless nights up with lil tiny sick people who were struggling to sleep, i stumbled apon Olbus oil for children/infants, a few drops on a tissue and placed in the cot, seemed to open the boys nasal passages, it is also a decongestant, you can get it from most pharmacys, it only costs around $8 and is extreemly good.
also a bit of baby baulsum rubed on a blanket in the cot, or rub some together in your hands infront of your lil ones nose so the vapours can be inhaled, without it having to come in contact with delicate little skin.
also putting a few little drops of saline (cooled boiled water) in the nostril will cause the little one to sneeze and hopefully clear out the sinuses.
good luck.. i hope thats been some help to you.
