Decided to introduce myself with a picture. My name is Siobhan. I have two little ones and one on the way. My favorite thing to knit...baby pants (wool diaper covers - both of my kids are cloth diapered). This is a pair I just finished last night knit in linen stitch. Phew! Took forever!

yep, brand new momma. Love it so much.

You know, i never thought on takinga  knitting class when i started. I always wanted to learn how to knit but never did anything about it. Then one day i was around in the grocery and they were having this sale on all of these books..and just happened to have a "learn to knit" book for 3 dollars. I taught myself, but i think it took 3 times longer than taking a class. I think i spent maybe 6 months on trying to figure stitches and learning patterns. And i havent stopped knitting since. I am simply an addict. hah.

well, right now i am working on several things, i have making my newest one a blanket. Its really simple with a stockinette stitch with a pearl stitch every several rows. I absolutely love the pearl stitch. I made a hat with it and absolutely love it. I am also working on some leggings for him, nothing special, something to do to use up all of my leftover yarn. I never realized how much random colors of small amounts of yarn i would end up with.

so, now that you finished those pants, have you started on anything else?

Quoting Stephanie:

wow, those are beautiful. i have actually tried the linen stitch before (no completed projects though) and it is a pretty tedious stitch. It wasnt working out for me i believe was because of the type of yarn i was using (llama/wool blend). Was kind of thick....still experimenting. :)

I really like knitting hats and mittens. Really the only things i have mastered. I just learned to knit December 2007 and so i am finding more and more things that are not that hard to knit.

Congratulations on your littlin' on the way! I just had a baby boy back in December (first child).

So, you're a brand new mama then!  Congrats to you!  I also learned how to knit in 2007, but it was July right before my second son was born.  I thought, I've always wanted to learn to knit and I need something to concentrate on during labor.  So, I took 4 private knitting classes at my local yarn shop and I haven't stopped knitting since.  I really enjoy a challenge.  I think that's why I tackle the linen stitch beast on a regular basis.  It is very tedious because you're really only knitting half the row at a time and then the other half on the next "go round", so it just CRAWLS sometimes.  But it is so pretty when it's done.  I usually don't like to knit it with anything heavier than a heavy worsted and prefer just regular worsted weight on size 8 needles.  But those last pants I did was with light worsted, almost DK weight and they took SOOOO long.  I thought I was never going to finish!  So, what are you working on right now?
