Elizabeth that sounds beautiful and it makes me homesick.
Well I have some Christmas themed tissue boxes and a Christmas themed bottle of dish soap. Is that enough? If not well... I can put some wrapping paper on the doors and get Abby to make snowflakes.
We're going up to my MIL's for Christmas so DH and I don't see the point in actually decorating. Besides we don't have any money for decorations after buying presents. I may buy some stuff on Boxing Day for next year though.
My parents have probably decorated by now. They usually place my mom's white and gold Mikasa Nativity scene on the piano with some fake pointsettias then a garland around the railing. The tree is decorated and so is outside. And then the stockings are on the mantle and Abby's Christmas pictures and some other stuff.
My MIL had us up to decorate last weekend. She has icicle lights around the fireplace, the tree is up and lit and decorated. Her outdoor lights are on year round they just need to be plugged in. She even put decorations on the kitchen cabinets and a Santa Stop Here sign in her boyfriend's potted plant. We're going to make a Gingerbread house this weekend along with nanaimo bars!
I'd love to go crazy, but I don't have anything to go crazy with!

Santa's, snow globes, music boxes and candle holders on every shelf, table top and even on top of the tv.
Garland around the banister with hand knitted stockings hanging there.
Garland around the mirrors.
Christmas tins with Christmas cookies and candies. Christmas towels, rugs and pillows.
Christmas carols on the radio. Christmas DVD's and Christmas books.
The best is our Christmas village around our Christmas tree. I can't put it up this year :( Little one would destroy it. It is a tradition my great-grandma started when my grandma was little. My first pieces came from her village. It has houses and shops, roads and cars, snow and snowmen and trees and a gazebo and a frozen pond with ice skaters. People shopping or sitting on the benches.
It has bridges and sometimes a waterfall. A farm with fences. A fenced in school yard with playground equipment. Minature lighted street lights with tiny wreath's, and the Elliott house. The yard of the Elliott house in the village has lighted reindeer, a sleigh, a couple of lighted candles and santa's, trees with lights and lights around the house. Holiday Greetings signs and a miniature nativity made for villages. It takes about 30 lights for the houses (and we don't put them all out) and over 24 AA batteries for all the little lighted decorations and street lamps. Plus we have a North Pole area on a stand near the village.
I would have to say we go light compared to what I want.lol

We usually have the bombing episode Johnny mentioned (the way you worded that made me lmao :). This is really the first year I've done Christmas since moving out though and I'm kind of confused on where to start. My mom bought small stuff here and there over the years which she packed up after New Years and brought back out again around Thanksgiving. So...... starting with just a few things from that, I don't have all the stuff. I have to go get my own which I've never shopped for lol
It'll be interesting. I need to get on it....... maybe this weekend I'll go wild :)
Pretty light. My girls do it all. They've done more this year than ever before though. We have our 4ft artifical tree on our coffee table. They put lights up in the kitchen and both bedrooms and strug garland w/ red and purple balls up in the living room and office area. ♥ I'm so glad they know how to do all this and LOVE it cuz I am not a decorator.
