They changed our sausage rolls from Chic's to some low fat ones when i was in high school. It was awful! I feel sad for all the kids at my old schools missing out on Chic's sausage rolls lol

When the kids were in elementary school I would bring them lunch and visit about once a month. However, once they hit middle school they decided they didn't want anyone to know we were related in any way.

We had a coke machine haha but it was always broken and if you pressed the button a million times you got 2 for the price of one.

When I was a kid we didn't have any extras except one vending machine that was stocked with apples, oranges and chitterlins ( for those who don't know, the latter are pieces of pig skin deep-fat fried). If you brought your own lunch you could also buy a container of milk for 3 cents. That was all that was available.

I know, that's the same as when I was young. The trouble is that NOW, there are kids having lunch orders every day because mum/dad are too busy to make them decent lunches. So the public schools have to have a certain nutritional value in anything they serve.

In the private and Catholic schools, what they stock in their tuckshops is a school by school policy. We have pies and sausage rolls, nuggets, wedges, etc in ours, but they are low fat. They are allowed to have occasional treats for sale, we sell baked muffins and cookies, ice blocks, paddle pops, so there are treats for the kids. At my son's school, they sell pizza, hot dogs, and all sorts of yummy things. It's all made in the kitchen there though, they don't buy it processed. But they also have 5 paid staff!

I just can't wait hahaha "sweety... come and get your lunch... I've saved the biggest cream bun for you".. in a voice like Marilyn from H&A. Wait, cream buns will be banned from tuckshop by then.

Emma, you'll probably have to wait until they are in high school to embarrass them. My kids love it when I do tuckshop at primary school, but once my son started high school, if I was on duty, he wouldn't come near the place.

No because he's only 2.5 however I have spent time with him at Day Care and have eaten lunch with him there. I'm sure I'll join him for lunch from time to time once he's old enough for school.

I eat with J once or twice a month. I volunteer in the muffin sale and Publishing Center every other Thursday, so on those days that I'm at the school all day anyway, it just makes sense to go eat lunch with J. He loves it and considers it a big treat right now :) but if he decides he doesn't like it anymore, I would probably eat at a different time.

Only when I am on tuckshop duty....and they come to see me :P

But otherwise, I like that kids spend this time socialising with their friends.

Yes I do, I have 2 older kids w/ my ex boyf. He doesnt like it I attend, however, thats infringing on my parental rights. The school told me whether helikes it or not - too bad!

When i visit I bring my child some "kids meal." I will eat with them sometimes too. I go twice a week. My child loves it when I visit. :)

I don't but I am at the school so often I may as well be a student :-)
I am secretary on the P&C as well as the Uniform Shop Co-ordinator.
I'm sure my boys hate it because I know what goes on before they have a chance to tell me.
