Do you ever visit your child at school during lunch?

When I was a kid we didn't have any extras except one vending machine that was stocked with apples, oranges and chitterlins ( for those who don't know, the latter are pieces of pig skin deep-fat fried). If you brought your own lunch you could also buy a container of milk for 3 cents. That was all that was available.
I know, that's the same as when I was young. The trouble is that NOW, there are kids having lunch orders every day because mum/dad are too busy to make them decent lunches. So the public schools have to have a certain nutritional value in anything they serve.
In the private and Catholic schools, what they stock in their tuckshops is a school by school policy. We have pies and sausage rolls, nuggets, wedges, etc in ours, but they are low fat. They are allowed to have occasional treats for sale, we sell baked muffins and cookies, ice blocks, paddle pops, so there are treats for the kids. At my son's school, they sell pizza, hot dogs, and all sorts of yummy things. It's all made in the kitchen there though, they don't buy it processed. But they also have 5 paid staff!
I eat with J once or twice a month. I volunteer in the muffin sale and Publishing Center every other Thursday, so on those days that I'm at the school all day anyway, it just makes sense to go eat lunch with J. He loves it and considers it a big treat right now :) but if he decides he doesn't like it anymore, I would probably eat at a different time.

Yes I do, I have 2 older kids w/ my ex boyf. He doesnt like it I attend, however, thats infringing on my parental rights. The school told me whether helikes it or not - too bad!
When i visit I bring my child some "kids meal." I will eat with them sometimes too. I go twice a week. My child loves it when I visit. :)

I don't but I am at the school so often I may as well be a student :-)
I am secretary on the P&C as well as the Uniform Shop Co-ordinator.
I'm sure my boys hate it because I know what goes on before they have a chance to tell me.
