Lol no I'm not going to be one of those people that are going to ask random strangers if they think I could be pregnant. I am going to take a test in the next couple of days if my sciatic nerve doesn't stop bothering me, since it's only ever bothered me when I'm pregnant. My daughter also decided 2 1/2 months ago to stop breastfeeding all of the sudden, she's about to be two and started bf'ing once a day again since so I'm going with she's self weaning but now I'm wondering since it was sudden. Can't go by my last period because I have the mirena and haven't had a period since my daughter was 8 months old. I guess this is more of a vent, lol. I just hate that my leg wants to give out at random times especially because I'm on my feet 7 hours a day or more at work! I keep asking my husband if we can have one more, he says he's too old....could be an oops lol.

Anyone know how to treat sciatic nerve pain? I know very random, I'm going to tell my husband my theory, he'll think I'm crazy, lol!

While it may seem counterintuitive, exercise is usually better for relieving sciatic pain than bed rest. Patients may rest for a day or two after their sciatic pain flares up, but after that time period, inactivity will usually make the pain worse. Without exercise and movement, the back muscles and spinal structures become deconditioned and less able to support the back. The deconditioning and weakening can lead to back injury and strain, which causes additional pain. In addition, active exercise is also important for the health of the spinal discs. Movement helps exchange nutrients and fluids within the discs to keep them healthy and prevent pressure on the sciatic nerve.

Typical features of any sciatica exercise program include:

Core muscle strength. Many sciatica exercises focus on strengthening the abdominal and back muscles in order to provide more support for the back. Stretching exercises for sciatica target muscles that cause pain when they are tight and inflexible. When patients engage in a regular program of gentle strengthening and stretching exercises, they can recover more quickly from a flare up of sciatica and are less likely to experience future episodes of pain.

Specific diagnosis. Most exercise programs will be tailored to address the underlying cause of the patient’s sciatic pain, such as a lumbar herniated disc or spinal stenosis. Doing the wrong type of exercise can worsen the sciatic pain, so it is important to get an accurate diagnosis prior to starting a program of sciatica exercises.

Mine was only ever around when I was pregnant too it went away straight away after. If I had it not during pregnancy I'd go to the chiropractor for it.

Michelle I just told my husband my theory and he goes "you're not pregnant", and I said "yeah but how do you know", he responded "because I believe in god and he wouldn't do that to us". Lol, like I said I'll be buying a test, but I will also try using the pillow!

Try stretching out your back and maybe sleeping with a pillow between your legs. Every time my kids stopped breastfeeding all the sudden I was pregnant, but that's not the same for everyone so who knows.
