Gross Bottom Wiping Question.

I think that at age 5, IF she has been potty trained, she should try to wipe her on butt using wet wipes instead of using toilet paper. Or I don't know if they will sell it in a store near you, Kandoo wipes. They are pretty much the same as wet wipes but good quality. However, if she is struggling to wipe her butt after a number 2, get her to bend over, then split her cheeks, and wipe thoroughly.

If she needs you to wipe her at the front, get her to sit up straight and split her legs (Like she is doing the splits in gymnastics) wipe her front all the way to back. If this dosen't work, tell her to lie down, pick her feet up so her bottom isn't touching the floor, and wipe her front to back.

My daughter is 6 and does the same thing. I tell her to wipe until there is nothing left on the TP. She STILL stains her underwear. I don't know what to do either!

My daughter is 7 and does not wipe well at all,always. Stained underwear,how can I get her to do it rigjt, I cant be with her all.day to check which.iswhen.it happens,ughhh help anyone???

I think I will start with the flushables. Because I have been doing it for her she basically needs to be taught. Thanks for the suggestions.

I started her out with the wet flushable wipes when she began wiping her own bottom - age 4. Then she 'graduated' to regular toilet paper. I have shown her how to hold it so it doesn't get stuck and I said she needs to get more tissue and wipe again - repeat process until the tissue comes away clean.

I only have to wipe the baby's butt. I haven't wiped my 6 year old's in years. However if she doesn't stop peeing her pants we may have to go back to pull ups

@Shannin I am sure they have them but if not get the baby wipes and use those, their are flushable ones, not sure if you have a septic system but if so be sure they are okay for it first.

@Lissa you are right but they are not so popular in the States... not sure why since American's tend to be germphobic... to me it is normal and feel cleaner sorry if that is tmi :) It definitely is better the TP

Everyone I know has the flushable wipes in their bathroom, it's just a normal thing to buy along with the toilet roll, I guess it is a European thing.
Personally I think it really helps the kids when they are in the in between stage of being able to wipe but not well enough.

Nope I wipe the butts too... What is really cool over here in Europe is the have wet wipes for adults too, It is normal here to use them when you poop. So I try to teach my Claire to use them but she can't get her but clean and when my girls were younger did the same as you...I think it is normal.

We have babywipes in both our bathrooms along with the adult ones for number two.

This is gross and tmi and he would probably kill me if he knw I was putting this on the internet, but the 13 y/o boy always leaves skid marks in his underwear. So gross! I've started making him do his own laundry because of this and he usually doesn't have enough whites for a load so he leave them for me. Seriously thought about switching him to boxers so maybe it's not so much of a problem. As for my daughter who will be 7 in a couple months, she does it on her own and does a decent job. Occassionally, I get called in for the messier jobs. Nothing like hearing MOMMY! and walking in to her bent over with her cheeks spread.

Now, everyone must promise me that neither of my kids will ever hear about this post. LOL

Nope, I have to help mine too. She doesn't wipe well enough. I take a baby wipe and clean her up. I tell her to wipe until there is nothing left and then she clogs the toilet.

I have the same problem with my 5 year old James who is having a hard time wiping his butt. So I have to wipe it for him and teaching him how has been rough, there has been few times were he forgets and like Danielle & her daughter I have to use butt cream on him.

I recently started making my daughter (who just turned 5) wipe her own butt. Well the other day after a LONG day of playing out of the heat she came in crying that her butt hurt. So I checked it out and let me just say YUCK! I don't think she had wiped after her potty trip that day so she got raw. I had to pull out the butt cream. Now we've settled on her wiping her butt, but she calls me to make sure she got it all.

They are in the pull ups section of the store. They are flushabe too.

No Shannin I help mine too at that age. But I shifted over to the kids wipes I think Kazooms not sure on the name. They are wet wipes perfect for them to do it themselves and get it all. Try that.
