Well....how do I get an 8 month old and groceries into the house all at once? Do I leave the kid in the car? Or do I take her/him in and strap them in somewhere and then go get the groceries and PRAY nothing happens?

One mom left her child in the car and the car got stolen. With the air on thank God. But she had the same problem. She was unloading groceries. So what do you do?

I try to park by the side walk in front of the grocery store. I leave my cart on the side walk. At another store I frequent, they thankfully have a shopping cart drop off at every street light. If I have to walk more than a step from my car I lock the doors and book it there and back.

After seeing a special where some woman's baby was almost abducted while a woman was putting her cart away, I'm a bit jumpy.

I also lock the car and take the trolley back they wil be right for 5 seconds with the windows down.

I always roll out of the garage shut it then realise i forgot my shoes or something and roll the windows down turn the car off and have to use the keys to get back inside so I lock the car. I also honestly leave the kids in the garage strapped in unload and then get them out so they're not coming in and out of the door heading for the road.

about the returning carts, when my kids were little, if I couldnt return the cart while bringing all my kids with me and holding the baby, I just left it as much out of the way as possible. Somedays just getting them all to hold onto the cart while I got to the car was work enough.

I bring them in and let them play.

There have been times I've left them in the car, but that was only because I was dropping off the stuff that had to get in the fridge/freezer than leaving.

I'm not really worried about the car getting stolen. I do worry about my kids getting taken, although that is more at the grocery store than at home. I hate returning carts.

I always brought the kid in first, put them in the crib usually and then get the groceries, that was just with my youngest. My older ones I lived in the city and had no car, I would just bring the whole stroller in with baby and groceries.

I don't have these issues where I live. I used to let both of my kids nap in the car if they were asleep when we got home. I'm in a quiet semi-rural community and my house is on a "battle axe" block so no one can even see us from the road.
In a different community though, I think I'd be inclined to take the child in first and put him/her in a safe spot while I brought everything in from the car. I used to have a "pack n play" in my living room so I could just put baby in there while I did what had to be done.

Now that's a good idea!

I've had to leave the kids in the car in my driveway to get groceries in the house. But there have also been times when I've picked them up after work at night and have had to get them both in the house. I can't carry a 6 year old and a 2 year old in at the same time and neither of them will wake up to walk if it's really late, so I've had to leave one. I usually lock the door while I get one inside and then run out for the other one.
