How did you find out there wasn't a Santa Clause?

Damn Laura! My 5th grade teacher didn't do that. But my 3rd grade teacher told us about how she got into fights.

My fifth grade teacher told us all. she was a very no nonsense woman, who verybluntly told us, There is no Santa, your parents buy your gifts. So make your list realistic and be thankful you have parents who can buy gifts, and dont be whining for more. She often told us stories of growing up during the deprression, and I think this is one way if affected her. At that pont though, about 10, most of us only half believed. Funny thing is , none of us told our parents or made a big deal out of it.

Santa always left us a note, and in like 2nd grade, I recognized my mom's handwriting. I also noticed the note had been torn off a piece of cardboard and found the rest in my parent's room, and I KNEW Santa would never be that rude! lol

My kids have a Santa. Her real name is Aunt Freda, though. lol. It's my mom's best friend. She's awesome, and like a third Grandma to my kids. She spoils them SO much.

My stupid neighbor. I was devastated and only 5. I told my mom and all she would say was, "Santa is in your heart." Thanks mom.

My mom, dad, sister, and I were riding in the car. As we were riding along, my sister and I overheard our parents talking about how "Santa got decapitated" the night before.

We didn't find out until later that they were talking about the huge Santa statue that was in front of one of the stores near where we lived. We'd had a huge wind storm, and it took the Santa's head clean off.

Our parents didn't realize that we'd heard them in the car until Christmas morning (a couple days later), and we both started crying and calling them liars when we got presents from Santa. They did their best to explain what they meant and that Santa was real, but we were skeptical from that moment on (to say the least).

So, the next year, we went snooping and found the Christmas presents from Santa in our parent's closet. They couldn't deny it when we called them out on it that Christmas.

Oh I saw one like that myself! One woman was saying that she didn't want to have her kids believe in Santa because she's Christian and Christians aren't supposed to lie. Err yeah, that's why all the Christian politicians are always telling the truth.

I was about 9 I think? Rumors had gone around school long enough to where when Easter came around that year I opened my basket and my mom had written Happy Easter on the back of the receipt lmao
It was definiatly over from there. The magical hoppity bunny, Santa and anything else.

What cracks me up is there was a big discussion on this before on CoM I followed for a while. Some people believe they don't want to put their kids through the 'trama' and 'deception' of telling lies. So they don't do anything of the sort. A bit of a reach if you ask me.............. Come on.
