Another possibility is that he just has a sluggish system, and then it slows down even more when he sleeps. I'm going to send you info on how to increase peristalsis (the muscle contractions that run the length of the GI tract)

One thing that you can start right away is beat his butt. Right above where the crack starts is a triangle shaped bone, beat him right there. Not hard, just to the point where he is still comfortable with it. That has reflex action that will sometimes get things moving quicker.

Well thank you Beth. I cant wait and you have been very helpful. I wonder if there is a trigger because he can go a long time without anything happening and then bam all of a sudden he wakes up with it. He always wakes up with it. It never has started in the middle of the day. I feel a little better informed. Your awesome.

That sounds funny. ICE skating, or SWIMMING. lol
I wish my body was up to skating.

Meg, I know what you mean about the SAHM job being more exhausting than paid work. At an out of the house job, at least you get regular breaks.

I'm going to call it a night because I don't know when Lilli wants to wake up. And I'm either going ice skating or swimming tomorrow. I got ice skates from my MIL for Christmas

Hmmmmmmmmmm interesting. Did I tell you my dad had a blockage when he was a kid. They had to do surgery to remove it. This problem went on for two years before they diagnosed it. I hope that doesnt happen to Tyler and medicine has come a long way since then. Thank God.

E honestly I prefer Meg or Megan. I want to work because it's very expensive to live here in BC and I liked my job as a care aide. Being a full time SAHM is more exhausting than pulling a double in a memory care assisted living facility.

I'll send you info on how to massage the valve, and how to manually push the food through.

Elizabeth - posted on 12/26/2011

The food should pass through in about 2 hours. If he's vomiting in the morning and there is food slush, it means it is not passing through when it should.

Awww Well is there anything you can tell me. I am curious to know.

It doesn't sound like too much or too little stomach acid.

What I suspect is if it is not something like allergies, that the valve between the stomach and the small intestines doesn't open to let the chyme (food slush) and stomach acids through.

I can't diagnos. It is not within my scope of practice.

Last gross question. Everyone else ignore this post.

Is there recognizable food, or is it pretty much slush?

No there is basically nothing there except the first time. It is chunky and not strong smelling or anything. Just gross. There rest are dry heaves and bile.

Meggy (do you mind if I still call you Meggy or do you prefer Megan?) are you wanting to work (other than the money) or are you happy being full time Mommy?

Btw, What is Boxing Day?

When he gets sick, does it start with stomach pain first? Is it soon after he eats? A couple hours after he eats or does it vary?

I'm out of work right now because I can't work in BC until I get allowed to work by Interior Health and get a paper saying I can work instead of a Canadian. I don't care about shit right now. But it is nice that I don't need to clean it

No he doesnt strain. he drags tarah in there with him and they play. Sounds weird I know. The door is usually open and he is very relaxed. LOL. Usually once a day. may skip a day. we usually know because it does take him so long.

So when he does have a BM (bowel movement) does it take him a while? Does he have to strain?

How often does he have a BM? A couple times a day? Once a day? Every other day? Once a week?

Shannin no. After knowing that my brother's Bio dad is in a CA prison I'm not sure I want to know where my bio parents are.

Amelia it does get better after a while. My older daughter's father left me for another woman while I was dealing with the possiblity of surgery for my thyroid and my daughter was 6 months. I lost my insurance because I had no job and no marketable skills. Now 6 years later I'm remarried, I have my 2nd baby and my inlaws are pretty good too. I'm also a certified care aide and a certified phlebotomist. I know it's hard some times but you can do it. Especially for your kids.

Sorry the md took so long.

Shannin, I'm going to send you some instructions on abdominal massage, (consult with your doctor first) but I want some more info so I don't give you more instructions than you need. Should I ask here, or PM you. It would be easier here as long as you don't mind.

Just Sunday's. Most Friday's (but not since Thanksgiving) there is a women's Bible study at the church and I get paid to do the childcare for that. I don't have a Bible study or small group ('base camp' in our church) for myself. Most of the base camps/other Bible studies that I know of start at 7pm.... I NEED that interaction, but I need one that fits w/ my life... and there are none.

I spend as many hours in bed as possible cuz I don't sleep well. Last night I did pretty good and I think I only woke up twice. I NEED at least 7-8 hours of broken sleep or I start getting batty. I'm surprised I did so 'well' when my son was a newborn cuz I wasn't sleeping at all. I 'averaged' 2-5 hours/night!

I haven't been untired in over 20 years....
