Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold on there Carolee. It takes TWO to communicate. Maybe you could word things better, but it sounds like he needs to listen better. Don't go putting most of the blame on yourself girl.

You may want to begin the conversation with the positive things though. Let him know that you appreciate the work he does around the house. Then tell him how much it frustrates you that you are unable to do it yourself and how you want to do it for amoung other reasons so that he can have more of a break.

It's hard to have self control. I took it out on the dog and would tell myself 'calm down' and 'walk away' but would still be screaming and scream next time too. I tried training her, she won't learn from me from the way I am doing it and I don't have the patience to do more with her. I just had to put her on the other side of the baby gate and give myself a break from her running over Odin when he was too young to handle it. Things get taken out on the people we love and in the wrong situations. Even when we know it, sometimes it still happens :(

What I did with Steven was tell him what we were doing wasn't working. He agreed. We agreed on what the goal was - Odin sleeping through the night. I asked him if he could let me try the CIO method, but I wouldn't let Odin just cry unreasonbly for a long time and get hystarical but there would be crying involved so if he heard it, not to worry too much. He said okay. We agreed on trying it for a week or two and if it didn't work, that we would try something else and with that, he let me?

I recommend that you wait till tomorrow. That way he won't be as tired and you can figure out all the important things that you need to say.

Well, I was thinking about posting to a thread and then turning in for the night. So I'll say my partings now. Sweet dreams my fair Carolee, may slumber be soon forthcoming so you may rest your weary head in the shelter of a land of your creation.

As soon as she goes down, I can turn the lights back on and finish Corbin's "Hooray for pooping in the potty" poster/reward thing.

I have to attempt this sleep thing. I drank yesterday. All of 2 and passed out at 8:30. Didn't wake up until 7!!!! Sleep is not coming easy tonight after that lol

Sorry, Odin was running around the house and he's so excited to be able to do that so he wasn't touching anything like the entire hallway full of Steven's shelves.... I wasn't worried about keeping too close of an eye on him. Next thing I know, he's passed out on the floor. Just put him in bed and changed his diaper...... it's wayyyy too cold on the floor......

I've thought of posting a thread about it on here. See if anyone who gets it wants to Skype and have me (the computer) face their tv. lol. I'm an addict!

E4 has just started the third season. Can't get it out of the UK, though. We will most likely be able to see it in the Spring... hopefully.

I should be sleeping, but I have only gotten the computer in brief spurts recently. Long enough to watch an ep and a half of misfits on saturday, and the other half yesterday.

I've read that chewing or sucking on things increases the level of seretonin and that if you have a child that does this, don't stop them, just teach them what is appropriate to suck/chew on. He probably needs the calming effect of the seretonin.

Let me guess. He chews on your buttons and zippers. DJ (I'm getting lazy tonight) chews on mine too. I think its just a sensory thing. I used to (still do) chew on my jacket hood strings.

That's why moms need others to talk to. So they can laugh at others duh moments. I mean because two heads are better than one. (as long as they are female.

But I wouldn't be concerned yet. He's only a year old and the normal age for doing things is just an average.

I was worried he would go def from a prolongued ear infection. At 4 months old he got RSV and at the check up a few weeks after that they said it was 'still pink, but okay' which didn't make me comfortable. Took him in at 9 months old and they said he was fine, just build up......... build up....... ding...... didn't think of that until now......... duh......... how to clean........ thanks Elizabeth. I'm an idiot. They said it so nonchalantly I thought 'ohhhhh, ok' !?!!

Odin's just now getting cuddly so it's the first time he's even started to sit still for monthsssssssss. Makes Steven and I happy, getting to hold him again. He likes to crawl into our laps when he is tired and needs to nap. Way cute but difficult when I have Koenig in one arm lol
Because of courrrrrrse Odin is a brute force of nature that cannot be tamed

Has his hearing been checked? Does he have sinus problems at all? That can put pressure on his ears. If his hearing is a muffled, that can delay speech.

Donovan wants to chew on the books too. I keep a couple of teethers and give him a different book to chew on sometimes.

Have you tried giving him a book or something he can chew on while you read something else (a different book) to him?

See, I was concerned about bragging because I didn't want you to compare your kid to mine. We have early talkers in our family.

I tried reading to him before too. Didn't care. He just wants to chew on the books and gets mad if I don't let him lol
