ooh, breaking in! I never used to be afraid of that, but then I was broken into. It makes you feel so violated. I do double check doors a lot now. I dont own a gun, but I do keep aluminium bats and crow bars in a few handy spots, just in case. Although its been almost a year now, and Im much less worried abut it than i as.

I can see that Shannin. Sounds like one of those educational commercials for 'buckling up' with those creepy crash test dummies.

I am freaked totally by butterflies (weird i know) and moths basically anything in that family, i put it all down to my sister chasing me with a huge dead christmas moth when we were little and i've just never gotten over it. Luckily my daughter hasnt inhereted my phobia, she chases the damn things trying to catch them :-)

Kangaroos, they are everywhere where I live and they are friking huge 6ft tall! They jump on the road when I am driving and it's really dangerous if you hit one. Not to mention they can be aggressive, so I don't like going out in my yard during dawn or dusk because they are always there.

Spiders, snakes and the usual creepy crawlies.

Heights (actually more falling from those heights) and drowning.
I also have a fear of break-ins, more so since having children.

Spiders (daddy long legs are okay but everything else get squealed at while being pounded to death), not knowing where I'm going (whether that be in the dark or in a new city.....and to think I want to move out of the general area I grew up in lol). I used to be terrified to move under/over bridges, and to stop near one was a special moment (did I mention there's a river that crosses and separates a significant part of the area I live).

I'm scared of guns too. My husband used to teach me how to shoot and then he would point the unloaded gun at me and stuff and I'd freak out and run away.

@ Shannin~ Yeah I'd wind up cutting off some part of my body lol. Me and knives do not agree at ALL. Even butter knives seem to have some kind of vendetta against me! lol

We don't have any bullets for it lol. It was something that was passed on to my husband when a relative died. It hasn't been shot in yrs..I was hoping that if someone actually got in, just the sight of it would scare them. If that didn't work then yeah I would have just started hitting with it. What's a katana?

Danielle, that's why I keep a katana handy. Lots of ways to do damage with those. lol. And I have pulled it out on somebody before.

Big spiders and heights, especially if it's someplace where you can fall off and get hurt or killed.

I would have to say that someone breaking in is also a fear but a newer one. We moved here in April, and the last week we were at our old house my hubby had to go out of town. It was about 10 and my daughter and I had went to bed but for some reason I left the living room light on and my door open (which I NEVER did) We had been in there for maybe 20 minutes and it sounds like the screen on the door opened. I froze and then heard what sounded like someone had turned my door handle and just let it go. My daughter heard it and started crying so I called her father so he could calm her down. I got the nerve to go and make sure all windows were locked and check the doors. I had FORGOT to lock the bottom lock on the front door but had locked the deadbolt and realized that both windows in my son's room were open. Needless to say I spent the rest of the night holding tight to an unloaded shotgun. I told my husband and he was like what were you going to do? Hit them with it? I think I know who it was and it scares me to death to think of what he was planning if he had gotten in. First thing I did when we moved here was to get a Great Pyranese (HUGE dog) You have no idea how happy I was to get out of there lol.

speaking of breaking in. I was stupid enough to leave the garage door open when I left. The neighbor who I dont like closed it for me. I guess he is not a bad kid. I think he is getting nicer as I get to know him.

oh and i have this weird unrational fear that i am going to be raped in my home

I have the same thing, is it all women or just a nutty few? :) I have a complete irrational fear of that and someone breaking in in general. And this is fairly recent those fears started. Bugs... not exactly scared of them but they can not be in the house or I freak. When my daughter was just a few months old we use to get these huge weird flying beetle things and one got in the house one night, I went to grab my drink off the floor while holding the baby and I saw it hovering by my foot... Iaunched myself off the couch and down the hall screaming before my husband knew what the hell was going on. Zombies is another irrational fear lol I use to be a huge horror movie buff but I cant watch them without hubby anymore.

Big spiders. Little ones I'm ok with but the big ones creep me out! Also when it's dark and I'm going up a stair case, I always feel like there’s someone behind me, I hate that so I run up them really fast!

Well most of that was just scary. And some was a little funny. But if the tire blew in front of me, that would be all she wrote. No more for me. You are a brave woman. I hate driving, or being driven, or even looking at cars, or bikes, or skate boards. I do like my bed though. It hardly moves. LOL

spiders bug the shit out of me. i had a few times where one dangled down in front of my face while driving. i almost wrecked us over a fucking bug. *shivers*
i am also terrified of driving next to a semi, or behind one. next to one i feel like they'll try to change lanes or something and not see me, and behind them freaks me out cause i had one that a tire blew right in front of me. i had just got done watching the mythbusters where it shows someone being decapitated by that, so i nearly pissed my pants.
oh and deer on the road. i panic. my legs get all numb, and i freeze. i was like that before my husband totalled my car hitting one, but i've gotten waaaay worse since the accident. the fucking thing came flying up on the windshield on my side, and i thought it came through the windshield at me, but it was my airbag busting my face up instead. fuck deer.

oh and i have this weird unrational fear that i am going to be raped in my home. i live in iowa, no earthquakes here, but little ones every decade or so. well, one happened at 4 am, woke up to my bed shaking and the first thought that went through my head was a rapist was under my bed fucking with me before he attacked.

Lets see... Spiders. Let me walk into a spider web and I turn into a ninja, yes ppl I'm talking matrix like. Bending ways my body should NEVER bend! Ticks, the idea of something sticking it's head in my body and drinking my blood just creeps me out. Never say "Danielle, there's a tick crawling on you." I have been known to start tearing clothes off, no matter where I'm at. Clowns, I almost got kicked out of a haunted house b/c this kid dressed like a clown jumped out and got in my face...good thing he/she was quick cuz I went to swinging. Last but not least, have you ever seen The Grudge? Yeah, just something about jet black hair on pasty white skin, moving across the floor makes my skin crawl. At night my husband likes to get on his hands and knees and come to the doorway of whatever room I'm in and make that noise and pop his head in the doorway and then once he's got me good and freaked out he'll get up and take the kids and go to town and leave me to freak out on my own. Isn't he sweet? It's ok though...as soon as I can catch a snake I'm gonna put it in the bed one night. Lets see how he likes it!

Singing in the car and being all happy while singing. It is like in the beginning of a movie. Everything is going great. They are all happily singing in the car and BAM, hit by another car.....hard. I leave my radio off. I know stupid.

Grasshopers! Not the iddy bitty type so much. But the big giant locust type. The kind that fly and ping you off in the side of the head while riding your bike down a gravel road.
*shudder*
I'm not too found of june beatles either. They're clumsy, big and always try to fly into your hair. Earwigs and centipieds are creepy too.
Other than those I ♥ bugs.

The dark was a big one of mine when I was a kid/teen. So bad, I always had to have music playing when I slept, I put my matress on the floor when I was teen (scared of something grabbing my ankles from under the bed), looking in mirrors in the dark and I was terrified to climb the stairs in the dark to use the washroom (my room was in the basement). Thought something was going to sneak up and grab me from behind. My fear of the dark was probably due to my fear of ghosts.

Being in the car. No matter who is driving. Especially me. and then my hubby. I am afraid everybody is trying to get into my lane. Or they are going to run every red light. Or we are going to hit the wall in the carpool lane. Cars stopping abruptly for no reason. The light is going to turn red in the middle of the intersection. Backing up, not my favorite.

I have an irrational fear of birds. I blame the movie, "The Birds". Of course if it's on I must watch it,lol.

[deleted account]

the usual, piders, snakes, etc.... although for a while there i did develop an unnatural and irrational fear of phones ringing!! i used to work in a call centre, and hated it. it also lead to a case of phone-induced tourettes - every time the phone rang, i swore like a sailor!
