Yes, Americans celebrate Mother's day in May--it's this coming weekend. I think it's the always the second or third Sunday, or something like that; I'm not sure how the schedule it.
I know the English celebration is in March but I'm not sure about places like Canada or Australia...

I got a new locket, earrings and cake decorating classes from Michaels. I'm excited about the classes.
I gave my mom a new apron. I made it and stenciled 'best nana hands down' onit and then I had my son put his hands in fabric pant and covered the apron with his hand prints.

My mom never goes for the normal kinds of gifts most moms like. I wrote her a blog post instead, sharing about the ways she has inspired me, and how my life now is a reflection of what she taught me. You might enjoy the read-- she is such a unique lady!

My husband got me the carpet steamer I wanted lol! My mom was like "that's nice and all, but don't use it today. it's bad luck."
lol my mom...
Also, my daughter finally peed in the potty after much arguing! That's probably my most favorite gift of all!
I got my Mum a pair of slippers and a box of chocolates.
My kids got me a box of chocolates, a lottery ticket, and some horsey magazines.
My daughter made me a pin cushion at girl guides and bought me a horsey clock from the school Mother's day stall.
My son made me a heart shaped soap at pre-school.
They also made me cards and my daughter brought me breakfast in bed.
It was all so lovely and just how I like it to be for Mother's Day. :-)
I love handmade cards!! I always have J make cards for both my mom & dh's. My family has always done handmade cards, but over the past few years I've been doing them for dh's family too, and they have loved them so far.
I just don't see the point in spending $6 for a mass produced piece of folded paper that only sort of says what you want to say and will be tossed in the trash in 2 days.....

I got my mom slippers, some lip gloss, had my kids make her a hand print picture with a frame, had them make her a card and I made her a card with a bunch of quotes in it.
I got chocolates (my ex did this, he NEVER did it while we were together!) and pictures of the kids and a home made card with photo's of the kids.
I didn't get the bowl. You're not going to believe this--The curator DROPPED IT!!! It didn't shatter or anything, she only dropped it a couple of inches, but it broke into two pieces, not quite in half, but like a third of it broke off. She couldn't sell it after that because the insurance had to pay for it and I don't know what happens to it after that, but dh said he would look for another one and buy it for my birthday.
He got me a new motorcycle helmet instead, which was WONDERFUL! ♥ I love him ♥
Mother's day in Australia is the second Sunday in May, which is this weekend.
I haven't bought anything for my Mum yet, I just don't know what to get her.
I'm hoping for a sleep in, breakfast in bed,a box of chocolates and a break from cooking dinner.
Oh, and lots of hugs and kisses from the kids!
I want to take my mom to the beach for Mother's day. We can't go ON Mother's Day, but I was thinking I would get her flowers and a card saying that she's coming with us this summer. Actually, I'm thinking September because I think the summer will be too warm for her to enjoy, and that seems a long way off, but I know she hasn't been to the beach in years, and it's like her favorite place, but she cannot go now at her age unless we all go.
For me.....I'm being materialistic this year. There is a bowl sculpted out of a large piece of petrified wood in a local gallery here. I've been eyeing it since it went on display 3 months ago....I REALLY want it. I know it's expensive, but the thought of having something that beautiful, and that OLD, is really cool to me. This particular one is just under 1 million years old.
